new to actually playing W40k but have been looking at this site for a while with that odd sense of longing so familiar among poor artist/students such as myself, though i feel like having some fun with painting the figures and the game has always been fun when i used a friends old various armies and parts (talking imperial guards and necrons thrown together in 5 minutes to test out his new army or whatever)

either way, thinking of starting my own private army so i can actually play against more than 3 people, I'm thinking of doing something like pure kroot but would like to ask if thats possible to have without getting raped by something (dont think they have many anti-vehicle units for one) and if i had to include some tau (damn gundam/anime freaks as they are) i would want to find a krootish way of replacing the models at least

thanks for any advice in advance ~kruel

Welcome to Dakka! You can't really do an all Kroot army, since there are no Kroot HQ. You will have to include at least some Tau to make a playable list, but to be frank, you need some Tau to make it playable. Kroot just wouldn't cut it all by themselves, so you are stuck with those crazy Tau, unless they release a Kroot/Mercenary Codex that is

How is it they live in such harmony - the billions of stars - when most men can barely go a minute without declaring war in their minds about someone they know.

please let them do so *prays to every god known to man*

found this which would be interesting

http://www.legionsgames.com/mastergallery/kroot_renegades.htm

some researching makes it look like that you can outfit kroots decently for anti-vehicle work but you reduce your over all number of kroot doing so thus losing your advantage against infantry. . .

o' well still impossible but something to keeping looking for a solution to

Welcome to Dakka Dakka
What about converting some Krootish replacements for the required Tau stuff? Tau occasionally give the Kroot some of their weapons so a squad of ten with the Tau rifles wouldn't be too farfetched, maybe fix them up some more so they're not just Kroot with fancy guns, they need fancy armour as well

Then I'm sure that the Kroot have something big that will be a replacement to the Crisis Suit. Model it well enough and clear enough and your opponent should have no problems fighing a characterful army that has obviously had some effort and thought put into it.

Welcome.

GOing all kroot is a hard thing to do unless you are a great modeller and happy for 'counts as'.
