500 point game, Tyranid Vs. Space wolves

Space Wolves army: Me
HQ- Wolf Guard Battle Leader: Mark of the Wolfen, Storm shield, bolt pistol. (I know mark of the wolfen is not allowed onto WGBL now but didn't know then)
Troops- Grey hunter x 9 one flamer and in rhino with the HQ
Grey hunter x 10 two flamers and one mark the wolfen

Tyranid army: Lance
HQ- Tyranid prime
Elites- Mawloc
Pryovore
Troops- Genestealers x 6 Scything talons adreanal glands
Hormagaunts x 10 Adreanal glands and toxin sacs

we roll to deploy and i lose with a roll of one, lances choses to deploy first.

Roll for first turn. i roll one again he rolls 3. He chooses to go first so to deep strike first.

Turn 1: He runs all his units into cover, and has his genesteelers and hormaguants run as close to my wolves as possible.

My turn comes and my tanks roll forward as far as they can to let the wolves get the there battle.

Turn 2: lance fails his deepstrike with a roll of 1 so no marloc jsut yet. His genesteelers eagerly run up towards my rhino only to fall short of assulting range. his hormaguants lay in wait within range of his HQ so they don't go crazy.

my turn my grey hunters jump out of the rhino to unleash firey hell onto the genesteelers killing 4 leaving two scared to death then they are whipped out by the boltgun fire that followed the flames. my other rhino steams on towards the rear of his army.

Turn 3: Lance makes the reserves roll and causes his marloc to burst from beneath my previously triumphent greyhunters and kill all but the cursed wolfen marine. His narrow escape wasn't given time to rejoice because the hormaguants were in range to come devoure him. after the small snack they try to run back to their leader.

after watching the death of their fellow unit my HQ unit rolls up to lances pryovore and fires their flamer and a bolter from the rhino both doing nothing but iritate the monster.

Turn 4: After satisfying his hunger his marloc returns underground to strike next turn. The hormaguants revert into their instictive behavior because they are no longer under the influence of there leader and charge the stunned rhine that is left from the marlocs carnage, there attacks pove enough to destroy the tank. His pyrovore lumbers away from my rhino and lance ends his turn.

my rhino drives up to his pryovore and all of the greyhunters jump out and start shotting at the beast but to no avail.

Turn 5: once again the marloc jumps forth but luckily this time he scattered far away and wasnt able to hurt anyone. The pryovore then fires into my unit and kills 2. the hormaguants recovered from their rage and charge into my unit and kill 4 more. My counter attack leaves all but 4 of his hourmaguants left.

After the lose of most the unit the Battle leader and the 3 remaining grey hunters finish off the hormaguants and run back to prepare for another charge at the last of the tyranid. and my rhino shots its stormbolter and the marloc in a futil attempt to slow down the towering beast.

Turn 6: After the irritating storm bolter shots the marloc slivers over the the rhino and destoys the storm bolter and tears out the treads. The pyrovore and Tyranid prime charge the 4 space wolves and kill 2 grey hunters and wound my battle leader my counterattack does nothing.

Locked in combat my 2 remaining wolves strike each at their own target. The battle leader strikes at his prime and causes no wounds and in return gets one wound from the prime. The grey hunter attacks the pryovore and regrets not having brought his powerfist being unable to do anydamage to the beast, fourtunatly for the time being the pryovore fails to kill my last hunter.

Turn 7: Again the marloc attacks the tank tand finally destroys it, and sits on it triumphently. again in the last combat of the battle my battle leader attacks first and scores two wounds onto the prime and makes three saves from the prime. sadly the last hunter is punished for the lack of any real weapon and is finished off my the pryovore.

Striking at the prime one last time the battle leader fails to place the final wound onto the Tyranid prime. the prime finally kills the lone battle leader and the battle ends.

Actualy a Wolf Gard Battle Leader can have MotW, it may not be a great choice, but you can take it.
It also looks likes you had a few points under, you could add a Wolf Tooth Necklace and mabye a Storm Bolter

I think GW FAQ'ed that the Mawlock can't choose to deepstrike under a unit. It must be able to fit where its aiming to deepstrike and then if it scatters it does damage. I think this is right so I guess get a second opinion.

Take a look at the FAQ

http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1180145_Space_Wolves_FAQ_2004-08_5th_Edition.pdf

and the points were both within 3 points of 500 but i should have charged when i shot a couple times and that made a difference. Also the first time he had used his new model Mawloc and the battle was before any FAQ had been released. Has the Tyranids new FAQ been released yet?

Rulebook states that when you deepstrike you choose a point on the board and roll for scatter. you can call for 'wobbly model' and use a dice to mark the point in the center of a unit, then the mawloc's rules take precedence should you be within 1" of enemy models.

He has the ability for a reason, get over it and realize the mawloc is trash and nothing to fear. he scatters 2/3 of the time, and the times when he does hit he has to stand in place for a whole turn, and his combat profile is crap. i've lost mawlocs to tac squad marines 3 times. I stopped using mawlocs after 3 times. Trygons are where it's at!

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.
