Hi,

Tonight I would like to trialrun this list (first goreshade list for me...)

Goreshade the Bastard +6
- Deathripper 4
- Deathripper 4
- Nightmare 10
- Seether 9
Mechanithralls (Leader and 9 Grunts) 5
3 Scrap Thrall 1
Pistol Wraith 3
Pistol Wraith 3
Warwitch Siren 2

Tactics are shadowmancer goreshade. the rippers will also protect goreshade (medium bases).
Nighmare and slayer are for offensive punsh, together with the banes that goreshade produces.
Mechanithralls run interference and are general nuissence for the opponent, as are the scrappies.
Pistolwraiths are there to take out solos and potshots at warjacks.
warwitch will help a bit with the focusload and is able to undisrupt if needed.

Anyone have any tips or other things to keep in mind when playing goreshade??

Why take two Deathrippers? Goreshade has nothing much to arcnode. Pretty much any other warjacks would be a better choice for your 8 points.

Two pistol wraiths are a waste IMO. A Necrosurgeon can be a good friend to your Mechanithralls for two points and a Necrotech and Scrap thrall (for a total of four) will come in handy with such a large portion of your army being Warjacks.

I've been thinking about a Goreshade the Bastard list myself. By splitting my ten thrall, Bane thrall unit into two six thrall units by mail ordering a leader and another grunt from PP. This will allow me to field something like this:

Goreshade the Bastard -6
Deathwalker 0
Slayer 6
Slayer 6
Reaper 7
Bane Thralls (min) 5
Bile Thralls (min) 5
Mechanithralls (max) 5
Necrosurgeon & Stitch Thralls 2
Necrotech & Scrap thrall 1
Bane Lord Tartarus 4

35/35

I'd like to fit a Corruptor in there somewhere, not sure how much of a good idea that is. in larger points I could add the following.

Corruptor 8
Bane Thrall UA 3
Warwich Siren 2
Necrotech & Scrap thrall 1
Machine Wraith 1

50/50

yeah, I was also thinking about other jacks, but then it hit me that I have no mediumbases to protect goreshade. That is what they are for. Besides they can also make use off the shroud.

the necrosurgeon I would like to field, but I do not have one yet. as I am already proxying the seether and the scrappies, I can't add another proxy IMHO...

all in all I have the following to exchange stuff with:
Deathjack (wich I did not want to field now...)
defiler
6 biles (they proxy as scrappies sometimes)
skarlock (which would be even more useless)
cankerworm (which might be a good to exchange a ripper and the scrappies for. it just does not profit from shadowmancer as much...

I might just adjust the list to this:

Goreshade the Bastard +6
- Deathripper 4
- Cankerworm 5
- Nightmare 10
- Seether 9
Mechanithralls (Leader and 9 Grunts) 5
Pistol Wraith 3
Pistol Wraith 3
Warwitch Siren 2

Wraiths are needed until I have some other filler. I am mostly depending on my caster and jacks to change stuff up. and the 6 banethralls I have are neded for goreshades feat in the current list...

I plan on getting the satyxis shortly, as I want them for a skarre list... I also want to get the necro, some undead pirates (for revenant) and maybe tartarus. I am on a budget though, so I will not have them in time for tonight...

If your Seether is proxied then that's an opportunity right there. Do you have a Slayer?

Current Warjacks (from OP list):

Seether
Nightmare
Deathripper x2

= 27 (21)

I would recommend (based upon what I assume you have):

Nightmare 10
Slayer 6
Cankerworm 5
Defiler 5

= 26 (20)

A Slayer is point for point as good as a Seether (I often field two Slayers). Cankerworm is more survivable and better in combat than a Deathripper and a Defiler can remove annoying (stealthed) solos with its spray cannon.

If you also drop the proxy Scrap Thralls you'll have two spare points to get a Necrosurgeon.

Really, beg steal or borrow a Necrosurgeon. Skarre will also love the Necrosurgeon and your Mechanithralls. Skarre can have the Mechanithralls rolling 3D6 in combat and the Necrosurgeon will help get more of them into combat. When Skarre feats she can be Healed by the Necrosurgeon. In addition the Necrosurgeon is a sweet model.

Goreshade will only need a skirmish screen (Mechanithralls) and a little focus to protect him for most of the game thanks to Shadowmancer.

TLDR version: Proxy a Necrosurgeon ASAP.

Well, used the second list. He played his newly build trolls in a Madrak-brick. I had real problems removing anything. And he was imune to knockdown as well, so I could not make him leave half the unit behind thanks to tough...

In the end I won because I could surprise him with my banes. I got 3 of them onto madrak after killing of his championscreen. unfortunately I missed with 2 of them and the one that hit did not do a lot of damage. he then had nowhere to go and decided to use everything he had to get to goreshade. He failed when he hit my nightmare, as he could not shift him...

Goreshade ended him the turn after...

It wsa a hard battle. I lost the mechthralls after round 3. he had charged 4 of them and killed them and then I countered. he made his thoughrolls unfortunately. The countercharge was also not very good and in the end I was lucky to get the opening I needed to pull of a failed assasination.
On the assasination run he had lost so much that I was able to get to him with no real problems. Madrak then bit the dust as Goreshade lay into him with full 7 focus...
