I am a long term Warhammer and 40k player but have never gone into any historical games, mainly because none of my circle of friends are particularly interested. However I have decided the time is here for me to venture forth. Now I have to decide what system to use. I have two criteria
1) I want to play in a tournament.
2) I want to use Pygmies.
So what does everyone suggest? I don't really mind what era it is, but modernish would be my preference. Is it true Warhammer Historical are bringing out a WWII ruleset? They probably wouldn't have army lists for native African armies in the first publication though. Pygmies and Nazis would be cool.
Yeah, so, ideas?

Wargames Foundry in the U.K makes a nifty line of Pygmies for it's Darkest Africa line...

Yeah, I've already got several. I just want to know what rules to use with them.

Not sure if anything "modern" would work with what you're looking for. I have heard of Libyan armies from the Biblical era of Warhammer Ancients being comprised entirely of Pygmy minis. Another cheaper option is, of course, DBA...

Colonials would be a good period for Pygmies -- The Sword and The Flame seems to be a popular set of rules for that.

I've looked at that and it does look rather good, the trouble is I wanted a system that is well supported by tournaments as none of my circle of friends are really into historical and it would be nice to actually play some games with them.

In that case your best bet is probably DBA or DBM but I think most of their African lists tend to be from Northern Africa. This page lists all the DBA armies http://www.dbaol.com/armies.htm but I can't see any that are particularly Pygmy-ish.
Field of Glory might have a book of African lists (or not)
