Looking for a decent 2-player game, so I won't have to pry my older brother away from the PS3 with a crowbar anymore. Preferably keep it clean, violence to a degree is fine (to give you an idea, our folks are fine with Arkham Asylum/Force Unleashed/etc type violence)

Heavier violence would probs be fine, but no sexual content...so don't point me to Dante's inferno.... language isn't a big issue either.

@ metallifan I can't find anything on that game. Searched youtube, wikipedia, googled it...all it came up with is neotantra, which I assume isn't the same thing....

Try simply "Contra". That's the game series. It's a really old family. The PS2 Contra was all 3d and was sort of a tribute to fans of the old top-down arcade style shooters. You know the ones, with corny - er,"Khorney", sorry - weapons that shot like 5 rockets at once in all directions, and had just absolutely hilariously stupid and over-the-top boss fights


Definately some lulz to be had with that game.

Borderlands is a lot better playing with someone else if you can stand the split screen.

There is a good amount of violence, but it's comic-book violence.

If you really want old school PS2, look into the Time Splitters games - Time Splitters 2 and Future Perfect were the best, though the first wasn't too bad. Although be wary of some of the stealthier missions (NeoTokyo, 2019 from TS2 in particular) as they can be the kind of levels where if you don't do everything exactly right at exactly the right time, you're going to fail the mission (And two people makes for trouble). Still, they both had some great co-op.

I second the Timesplitters games (endless fun) and Borderlands (wicked good co-op)

I played the first Timesplitters. It was a good game - plenty of mature humor but it makes for good laughs.

Champions of Norrath series for the PS2

Yeah definitely Army of Two and Borderlands. Borderlands is a pretty fun and hilarious with midget psyhcos running up to you and hacking at your knees. Also like Champions of Norrath for endless replay abilty.

Man, I forgot all about the Champions of Norrath (And the sequel Return to Arms). Those were great games, and the first real RPGs I ever played. I remember having a lot of fun with those.

Resident Evil 5 is pretty fun to play with a partner, and while its violent, there is no sexual content and, while they do swear, there are no F-bombs.

Most of the fun will be from laughing at how it fails as a horror game, though.....

the BEST multiplayer game? (coming from somebody who eats breathes and sleeps Call of Duty..)

MARIO KART 64

The always reliable standby for two players: Smackdown vs. RAW. It's a good fighting game for two, with more then enough match types and unlockables to keep you playing for hours on end.
You can fight each other, or do tag team.

Resistence: Fall of Man, and Resistence 2 are good games as well for two player.

As long as its up to date any ps3 can play ps1 games. If you can track down the Street Fighter: Alpha games theres a lot of fun to be had there. As for unusually fun platforming Little Panet for ps3 is family friendly silly fun. I have the most fun going online and trying to smack people with a frying pan. The sound for it just adds to the fun.
