Watching some 3rd Ed Space Hulk stuff on ebay at the moment and leaving aside the possibility that the seller is playing silly buggers, somebody is about to fork out £60 for the Terminator sprue alone.

Are all those unopened Space Hulk boxes about to start paying dividends? Because I still have one kicking about in the spare room

That could possibly be the Blood Angels release driving them up a bit?
It was pretty naughty of GW to include a pic of Sergeant Lorenzo in the new codex.
Seeems a bit of a to the people who didn't get the set.

I've got a few boxes knocking around somewhere, if this carries on I could be tempted.
It would have to cover the cost of me building up 12 terminators from the current GW range though, £70 ish.

On reflection, I guess £60 is the going rate for 12 Terminators anyway, what with one box of 5 costing £25.00.

Yet GW still can't bring themselves to release the Space Hulk minis seperately?

Wouldn't be limited then...

IIRC the 'thing we never did before' for Space Hulk turned out to be outsourcing the minis and tiles.

So they might not be able to crank out new minis without ordering another massive run of games.

Better not release them separately... grumble grumble

I also have an un-opened box, not because I was looking to rip someone off later, but because I wanted spare tiles and bits if neccesary.

That being said, the point is valid, it may seem like robbery to charge that much for the minis given the box set price, but compared to buying 2 and a bit termie boxes it is a fair price, especially considering the work you would need to to to convert to the standard they represent.

The GW Bunker (in Glen Burnie) found a Space Hulk in the back a week or two ago, and had it up on the wall, for sale... at the same price it was at originally, $99 (or $100). They're great models, but not worth paying the price of the full set for...!

I can't believe some of you have the disposable income to have boxes "knocking around" o.O

Well, I have a box knocking around, and Im 30 so have a bit more cash than the average teen...

What really shocks me is when a 17 year old posts that he has 45000 points of minis in 5 armies knocking around his room lol, or a reaver and 2 pairs of warhounds!

I may be able to splurge here and there minorly, but when I hear a highschool kid has 10000 bucks plus of miniature, the eyebrow goes up

Yes, when I was a lad, it took me two months of paper rounds before I could afford even the Rogue Trader book, never mind miniatures! (although this was partly because I used to spend 90% of my earnings on sweets).

Now I'm 30 plus, there is a small amount of pleasure of being able to buy stuff whenever I like, but I don't go mad. The two boxes of Space Hulk was a rare exception. Mine was on order and didn't arrive on the day of release, so I panicked and bought a second copy just in case.

I bought a total of four boxes. One, I kept for the game. The other, I sold everything but the BAs. I'm about to bust up one of the remaining ones. The last I think I'll save for Christmas.

I was able to buy anything I wanted for a short time recently, just after I started playing again 15-16 months ago after a 15 year hiatus...

Then I got a mortgage.

Because we’re here,lad...

Slightly off topic,so apologies in advance. Flashman you said about the Terminator sprues going for £60. Thats pretty daft if you ask me but I nearly choked on my tea when I saw an Escher heavy with a Plasma Cannon being sold for £45 buy it now. Are there no standards anymore?? I understand making a bit of profit but feth me does it have to be that expensive. I nearly creamed in buying Mad Donna Ulanti still in blister for £13....

I always roll my eyes at the Buy It Now price. That's just the ebay outlet for wishful thinking

You're telling me Flash. Just looking on ebay and I found Brother Goriel from Space Hulk.....a snip at £69.99....oh did I mention he's 'Pro-painted'...except that the photo is from GW....sad thing is that someone will pay that.Shocking.

But saying that...if some poor urbane pustule pays that...I'd quit the army now and pump out Terminators like no tomorrow.....and I wouldn't need to paint them,I'd hire a load of talented illegal immigrants and give them a handful of rice a week to keep me sorted.

Just like some of the prices on Amazon. It's only worth looking at the final bids on items that have actually sold.

On the other hand, the genestealers sell for pretty much nothing. Well, except for the broodlord.

That's because they don't fit on the standard size bases. To be honest, when playing the game they don't really fit in the squares either!

They also start to look pretty silly on the tabletop after more than one of each sculpt is used.

£60 is probably about right for 12 terminators, if you happen to pick up the rest of the game for that then its a bonus, if not then at least the SH sculpts are a lot nicer than the standard ones.

Some of the "Buy it now" prices on Ebay are ridiculous but as the saying goes, A fool and his money are easily parted, having said that value and worth are entirely a point of veiw, if someone is happy to pay £70 for a single plastic terminator then it was worth it, to them.

On a side note I sold my set locally for the $160 worth of trade. I was gonna take much less but he offered more.....just goes to show that people are willing to pay what they think they are worth.....

Cause nobody in this hobby ever converts their stuff, right?

This weekend I paid about £7.50 and £6.50 for Leon and Zael (Assault Cannon and Heavy Flamer) respectively, including postage.

Basically, this gives me the option to swap the weapons so I can field either two awesome-looking Assault Cannons on the table, or two awesome-looking Heavy Flamers.

Yes, it is expensive, but it will look a lot better than having one awesome Space Hulk heavy weapon alongside a fairly generic out-of-Black-Reach-converted-with-a-bitz-buy Assault Cannon in quite a static pose.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

I'm just saying that that is one more reason that the Stealers have limited appeal and therefore a lower price.
My point is that the genestealers aren't very easy models to convert.
The majority of the 11 poses are very distinct and will need a fair skill level to look significantly different.
Also, the ott basing limits the army to a cityfight/industrial theme without a fair bit of work.

eBay people are really annoying. I've been considering a Slaaneshi army, but don't really like the new daemonettes. So I go on eBay looking for some Jes Daemonettes, and what do I see? A group of ten, with some cruddy paintjob, labled 'Pro-painted' going $200 (Australian).

On Topic. My above complaint is probably why they are going for that much.
