I'm taking a break from 40K for a bit and I've decided to start a Cryx army. I'm completely new to Warmachine, so this list is something that I've come up with after reading the Prime MKII rules as well as the new faction deck.

At exactly 35 Points:
pDenny
Skarlock Thrall
Pistol Wraith
Pistol Wraith
Bane Lord Tartarus
Bane Knights (min)
Seether
Reaper
Night Wretch
War Witch Siren

I think this is a good start, but then again, I'm completely new to the game. Anyone up for offering some advice?

That's a pretty good, if different, list. Usually with Cryx (and especially with pDenny) people load up on the arcnodes. This could work though. It's good to see something different. Make sure you protect your Night Wretch until you're ready to go for the throat.

You added Denegrah's 'jack points to the total, right? I can't check your math because I'm away from my book.

Tartarus is a little wasted with only six Bane Knights. Two Pistol wraiths is a bit of a waste and you should consider taking another Arc Node (Nightwretch). Other than that the list looks ok. It doesn't look very forgiving with only one arc node and six troopers but it's not a bad list

I'd drop a solo or two, maybe even downgrade the Seether to a Slayer or Corruptor to increase the number of models. I'd also recommend playing a couple of 15 and 25 point games first.

Warwitch Deneghra
Nightwretch
Nightwretch
Corruptor
Reaper
Skarlock Thrall
Bane Knights (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Pistol Wraith
Warwitch Siren

This list gives you 2-3 Arc nodes a rock hard unit that's hard to pin down and plenty of support.

If you really want to take Banelord Tartarus take a Slayer instead of a Corruptor and drop the Skarlock Thrall. Or swap Bane Knights for Bane Thralls and keep the Skarlock Thrall.

Properly magnetised a pair of Slayer/Reaper/Corruptor kits will give you plenty of variety for lists. Nightwreches come in pairs in the blister so it's no more expensive ($$) to field two.

For Denny I think the standard advice would be to take out the Bane Knights and put in Bane Thralls. They seem to be widely regarded as better than Knights in all but a few specific situations. But even with only 6, The Sauce (aka Tartarus) is still a very nice addition to them.

Some revisions based off of advice and a bit of play testing:

War Witch Deneghra
Skarlock
Pistol Wraith
Pistol Wraith
Bane Lord Tartarus
Bane Thralls (Max)
Seether
Nightwretch
Deathjack

I don't know how I feel about the Pistol Wraiths, I'm pretty sure that they are useful I was just unlucky with them. What do you guys think?

denny can do more with nodes then with wraiths. I would say add another wretch and a warwitch siren and drop the wraiths.

If you insist on the wraiths (and I can't really blame you as the models are solid and the rules are good) then use them to take out solo's or chill the melee jacks. Nothing worse then having the big bad melee jack chilled in place (the chill can't be shaken and is more powerfull then knocked down in that regard. it just does not take down def...)

I field 2 quite often and have great success with them regularly. especially with a denny list they have no trouble hitting and killing...

@Lord Ravurion

I am still on the fence with the Wraiths. They add in some shooting as well as the lock down function, but I'm not sure if I really need them. I'll play test it and go from there.

well, to be honest you do not need them. I did not say (or at least mean) that you do. With the 6 points that the wraiths cost I would say use a extra nightwretch and a siren. Hell, I would probably not use deathjack, but 2 seethers and have another 3 points for a min unit of mechthralls. these are very usefull and denny can make it so they hit... (feat and crippling grasp both lower def. combined they can barely miss. )

the shooting is not nescesary in a cryx army. The hardest hits are done in melee any which way you cut it. shooting just gives a possible edge in engaging a bit further away.

alternatively use 1 wraith for the lockdown and a min unit off mechthralls. that way you have some extra models and still have a possibility of locking a jack down...

Good luck...

@ Vertebrae: Much improved list IMO. I second LordRavurion's suggestion that you should try to squeeze in another arc node somewhere.
