So, I finally got my wife to say she'd be interested in 40k if I started something for her, hence my newest postings in the Swap Shop looking for SoB.

I have quite a bit to work on, but I'm going with a Red primary, Stone 2nd, and burnished gold highlight scheme.

Worked on one side of an immolater so far and am kind of meh. Hasn't been washed/cleaned, but thought I'd throw it up form some C&C.

Again, camera phone not the best but the basics are there.

Hope to have the whole thing together soon - but also working on my Tau.

test fit the entire thing, they tend to be warped and hard to glue.

A general rule, any "color" you paint on a vehicle looks better if it is made of 2+ shades of color, a base and a highlight at least. Also, a Shading step, in addition to the base and highlight, helps out an incredible amount.

Metallics are tricky, and even harder to pull off over large areas, but they definitely need to be washed and re-highlighted.

I will second the fact that you ought to build rhinos in their entirety before painting- they are a kit that tends to be warped and needs to be worked to make fit together.

I second Elnicko5, I think thats a lot of gold on the sides of that rhino, you may want to go with the red and keep the gold for the exhaust's themselves , with a bit of black soot on there the gold will be much more tarnished and realistic looking. I like the fact you've combined the traditional Inquisitorial red with the deneb stone, it's got nice contrast qand the stone areas will give you some great places to put decals and purity seals. Just my 2 cents, good luck with getting the wife into 40k!

I have the SoB accents/motifs that will be done with Red/Gold as well, I just thought that was a lot of red on the rhino if the entire side was red...

I'll wash it out and see. Maybe I'll get the whole thing done tonight

I built a SoB army for my 1st for 5th ed.
Ebay; I bought many sets of Dark Angel decoration bits. Emblems, banners ect. Lots of emblems for the Vechicle. They are lots of Angel emblems. Which are great.
The SoB vehicles are suppose "Rolling Shrines".

Dig out all of your old, extra rhino's. For the exorcist, I cut plastic/acrilic tubes to make the PipeOrgan. And with all the DA bits, I could cover all the old defects and "used" teardown sections.
Yes, I agree the current issue of the Rhino is a pain. Test fit. Use rubberbands and hopefully you don't glue your fingars too tight to the model.

It is important to buy some items from your local game store, Especilly if they have instore gaming.

I've also seen/found a lot of Fleur de Lis items/bits - especially since the Saints won the Super Bowl. Just a matter of figuring which items to go where along with the bits I already have. Still working - should have whole model up for C&C Sunday.
