The only (official) themes are the lists for each 'caster in their faction book. There's not (official) themes for armies or anything else. They list very specifically what can be included in the armies, but have very little (if any) fluff about them specifically. This is because they are tied to specific 'casters, so the theme's fluff is actually the 'caster's fluff.

That being said, if you wanted to do a theme list outside of the ones in the books, more power to you. You just won't be able to claim any benefits unless your opponent is okay with it.

701st is the special sorcha list from MK1. MK2 has got tiers wich can be found in the 'forces of' book. One or two of the casters must have a lot of winterguard in their list. they are the closest you can get to a 701st list IMHO.

the book will also show in which tier the riflecorps can be taken...

To be honest I know very little about the game (embarrassingly little), I have only just started and have yet to get the books (I have been reading a friends copy), I am more of a modeller than a gamer so when I have the choice of spending money on books with rules and fluff or models, I have to go for models every time

I wasn't sure where to find these lists, "forces of" or in a specific no quarter issue. the only reason I even know about 701st is because I mentioned to my friend I would like an infantry heavy army and that I liked the look of the winter guard and he pointed out the 701st list on battlecollege, which gave me the list, but no other info and im not sure how reliable that site is for info

thanks for the help and for your patience by the way

Theme forces that feature (not just include) Winter Guard:

Sorscha's Mechanized Infantry
eSorscha's 5th Border Legion
eIrusk's The Art of War

They are described in the Khador force book.

I play eIrusk with 30 winterguard
two sets of officers and std bearers (his tier list gives you a free unit attachment)
3 rocketeers (2 in one group, 1 in other).
4 widowmakers
widowmaker solo
Kovnik Grigorovich
and using the extra points plus Irusk's freebies I get a decimator or destroyer. It works pretty darned well at 35 pts.

For fifty I'm either just gonna add another decimator or three mortars.

well I have butcher, so maybe I should go for heavies like man-o-wars rather than wintergaurd then? probably better for me that way thinking about it, more agressive play-style aren't they?
