anyone know how different they are?
i was also wondering why youd want to buy the faction books if everything you need is on the card?
is it strictly for the fluff and the ease of flipping through the book rather than looking at cards?

The Faction books include:
- Theme Lists
- New Models
- Fluff
- Painting Guides

How's that for reasons?

For me, larger fonts is enough.

I mean, why would you buy expansion books at all?

maybe it came out wrong but i was basically just asking what was in it and what purpose it serves other than having the cards in it.

eventually id like i have it for the fluff updates but its not essential to get started and thats what i was wondering about.

i'm getting back into the game and would like to stick to the essentials for now.

so lets turn this more positive.

what do you guys recommend for menoth?

so far i have oodles of jacks but am light on infantry.
i really really like the exemplars/errants so i think id like to theme my force around them. in fact this is why i chose menoth without even really digging into the rules for them.

how do the exemplars and errants hold up in the game? how about the bastions and bastions with shields whose name i cant remember at the moment?

Faction books aren't essential, it's true.

But if you are going for a theme army like exemplars you should at very least take a look at the Menoth book.

I'm sure that Kreoss's Theme lists are pretty Exemplar-centric.

true undead. i keep forgetting about the themed lists in that book.
i looked at the merc preview on PP website and you get bonuses for using a themed list. is that the way the themed lists work in the "forces of --" books?

Yup, each and every Warcaster has a Theme List with a series of 4 tiers. All of these theme lists are extremely "fluffy".

Kreoss - Exemplars
Feora - Flameguard
Amon - Idrians and Order of the Fist

I don't have the Menoth book so I can't give you much more info than that.

Kreoss's theme force involves cavalry and Gravus.

eKreoss's theme turns regular Knights Exemplar into FA: U.
