Mindless Spore Mine

Hey guys. First time poster and i wanted some advice. I'm running Tyranids for 'ard boyz. This is my army list:
The Swarmlord 280 pts. + 65 pts.
- Tyrant Guard: Lash Whip, Rending Claws
Hive Tyrant 345 pts.
Hive Commander
Thorax Swarm w/ Desiccator Larva
Wings
Heavy Venom Cannon
Psychic Scream
Paroxysm
Bonesword/Lashwhip
Armoured Carapace
Trygon Prime 265 pts.
- Regeneration
Genestealers (10) 219 pts.
Scything Talons
Toxin Sacs
Rending Claws
BroodLord: Scything Talons, Rending Claws, Aura of Despair, Hypnotic Gaze
Tervigon 205 pts.
Stinger Salvo
Catalyst
Dominion
Regeneration
Venomthrope 55 pts.
Doom of Malan’tai 130 pts.
Mycetic Spore
Termagant Brood (10) 50 pts.
Fleshborer
Hormagaunt Brood (30) 300 pts.
Scything Talons
Toxin sacs
Hive Guard Brood (3) 150 pts.
Tyrannofex 295 pts.
Thoraxswarm w/ Desiccator Larva
Stinger Salvo
Rupture Cannon
Deathleaper 140 pts.
So I'm trying to decide if I should lose Regen. on my MC's and deathleaper to put in a unit of 3 Zoanthropes in a pod for extra armour death. as it stands i'm planning on using DL to lower leadership values on enemy psykers and IC's to help stop any lame powers (JOWW) and assist with Doom/Psychic scream. I'm planning on outflanking both the genestealer/hormagaunt units depending on circumstance and with both SL and HT giving me reserve bonus and outflank reroll... anyway, any advice is appreciated.

Welcome to dakka!
First of that list is a pain to read, you should edit it so that it looks like this:
HQ
Elite
Troop
Fast attack
Heavy
Also I would post it in the Army list section because not everyone reads the intro forums.
Now on to the list:
First I would drop the wings on the tyrant. With the 'ard boyz scenarios hes worth 3 KP with them, secondly he will out pace the other MCs and get shot down really quickly. Also he can't have the armor and fly. After that I would drop the swarms since if you are that close you will want to charge, and the last thing you want to do is to shoot and have the opponent take the front models away so you can't charge.
My suggestion: Tyrant, HVC, Bone sword and wip. Hive commander, Leech, Paro. 220 points
Next I would consider dropping the Swarm lord for another tyrant like the one above, it saves points and it lets you add another outflanker. All you really lose is the re-roll for outflanking sides (and lets face it if you have enough outflankers it you will get the side you need.)
Next why do you need scything talons on the genestealers? the poison will already let you re-roll on 90% of the targets you assault. Also drop the brood lord. He is over costed for what he does you might as well have 3 more bodies, not to mention there is going to be a lot of psyker hate, so the chances of him using his powers is low.
After that the tervigon need to be cheaper. First drop regen, if anyone is going to shoot at that 6 wound beast they will kill it in one turn, after all this is 2500 points. Next get rid of the psychic powers, they are expensive and fairly useless with your list. Now give it Toxin, and Adrenal glands so that all the gaunts get them for free. This ends up being 180pt
Now to the venothrope, what exactly were you planning with him? Most of your army is coming in from outflank or DS. to me he looks like an easy KP and not much else. If you think you need a cover save thats what termigaunts are for... 4+ cover save instead of 5+, 5pts cheaper and scoring.
After that drop the regen on the prime. Like I said before if someone wants it dead it will die in one turn.
And finally I think I would loose the Deathleaper, at 140 pts, I think you should max out your troops before getting a support piece.
Now with the 500 points I just saved you what should you buy.
How about more anti-tank, and more outflanking, and more scoring units.

Total Roster Cost: 2499
Automatically Appended Next Post: Now you can outflank the tervigon and catalyst the hormagaunts or the genestealers. Place both tyrant guard models behind the Tyranofex and have the tyrants stand beside them so you get to take cover saves while shooting at transports.
When turn two rolls around you will roll for:
Doom of M
Zoans
Trygon
Tirvigon
genestealer
genestealer
genestealer
Horms
All needing a 2+ to arrive.

Here are some things I noticed:
1: Your Hive tyrant can only have 1 choice of thorax equipment, I.E. wings OR carapace OR thorax larvae, not all of them.
2: Your list doesn't follow the Force Organization chart that is standard for 40k... I count 4 Elites: Deathleaper, Doom of Malantai, Venomthrope, and Hive Guard. One needs to go, and I'd be tempted to say the Venomthrope. You need a brood of them for them to really help.
Those are the most obvious errors. I don't have my codex handy but I think the tervigon has to choose between cluster spines and the decessitator larvae.
As for your questions, I would definitely replace either the deathleaper or the Malantai for some zoanthropes. They are your best weapon against the Mech-heavy trend that is going around tournament scenes ATM.
Oh, and welcome to dakka!
