His list.

Logan grimnar, Arjac rockfist, and 6 wolfguard terminators(with TH/SS) in a LRC with multi-melta

Njal and 5 Wolfguard terminators(1AC+PW, 1 PF+SB, 1Chainfist+SB, 1 PW+SB, 1PF+SB) in a drop pod(with deathwind)

15 grey hunters in a LRC with multi-melta

6 Longfangs in a Razorback.




We decided on mission 3 and played with a DoW deployment.

Board was set up like this. a Hill along 1/2 of my side with a small forest on top. a hill toward his right(my left) side of the board. a forest in the middle of his deployment zone. and a small hill in the middle right of the board.

Deployment

i rolled first turn and deployed the GKGM and his bodyguard on the hill and next to the board edge in my DZ and one Tacsquad and their rhino. Combat squaded the tac squad, missile squad went on in the forest, rhino and melta and sergeant went on the opposite flank from the GKs.

he deployed Logan and Arjacs squad in their LRC as close as possable to my GKs as he could.


First turn

Movement
I bring on everything except the Scouts in LSS who outflank.
landraider with TH/SS terminators comes in on the Far left side of the forest on my hill and moves 12" in.
LRC comes in 6" and 2nd Grey knight terminators hop inside the LRC.
Landspeeders coming to the right of my LRC, moving 12"
2nd Tac squad enters in rhino and moves up behind my other rhino on the far right.

Shooting
all either misses(due to NF)or does nothing to his LRC

His Turn1 movement
he tries to move logans LRC, but rolls a 1 for terrain and is stuck. he gets out and roll a 2 for difficult terrain, but manages to get out of the forest.
Drop pod comes in on target right next to my LRC, Njal and terminators get out.

His BC LRC and razorback come in opposite my rhinos in the center and his longfangs get out

Shooting
Njals terminators fire their assault cannon at my LRC for no effect.
His immobilized LRC fires at my GKGMs terminators for a single unsaved rending wound on my GKGM.


Turn2

My movement
My Landraider moves forward 6" and drops the TH/SS terminators quite near Logans termies.
GKGM and retinue move 4" forward to get a clear shot at logans men.
My LRC moves 6" up and turns to face Njals wolfguard.
Landspeeders move 12" to the right to fire at the longfangs.
Rhinos move 6" up toward his razorback
Scouts in LSS arrive and come in on my right flank and move 18" toward his longfangs.

Shooting
my LR fires its lascannons at Logans terminators and he fails 2 3++ saves.
GKGM and company drop another 2 of logans wolfguard.
Landspeeders fire 4 Frag missiles at the longfangs, all hit on target, but only 2 fail their saves.
LSS fires its HB at the longfangs, but they make their saves.
My LRC PotMs its Multi-melta at his LRC wreaking it. All its other weapons fire at Njals men, 2 of his wolfguard fail their 2+ saves.
Librarian attempts to cast Avenger at Logans wolfguard, but njal stops it.

assault phase
My TH/SS terminators assault Logan. Logan deals 2 wounds that are saved by my 3++
My librarian wounds and kills a wolfguard
My 15 TH/SS attacks go at the same time as Arjac and his 1 remaining wolfguard.
he does 2 wounds, i do 8. I pass both saves, he fails the wolfguard and Arjacs saves.
Logan passes LD.


His turn 2

Movement
Njal and his 2 remaining WG move toward my LRC
His BC LRC moves toward my Rhinos, but he doesn't get out?

Shooting
Njals men fire assault cannon at my LRC for a Penetrating stunned result.
His DPs deathwind kill as Tac marine in one of my missile combat squads.

Assault phase
he assaults my LRC with Njals WG and the chainfist wrecks it. My GKTs get out of a side hatch.
Logan deals my TH/SS termies 2 wounds which are saved by the SSs
librarian does a unsaved wound on logan.
Terminators hit logan 5 times and deal 5 wounds. Logan fails 2 saves.


My turn 3

My scouts disembark behind his razorback and assault it causing a immobilized.

Both rhinos move toward his LRC and both melta guns wiff.

my GKs assault Njals unit and kill all the wolfguard leaving njal.


His turn

His LRC manages to pump all its shots into my Landspeeders managing only to stun them.

Njal dies to the GKs


he concedes at this point.


he managed to kill exactly 2 models during the game.
he did have some bad rolls, but i think my tactics worked pretty well.

Nice win. I don't think your opponent really thought out what he should bring. Njal and Logan in an army are so expensive not to mention Arjack. Great scott thats alot of points.

You technically cant have 5 terminators and Njal in a drop pod.. At all. 5 terminators fill up the pod so unless he put one in the Long fang squad (which can be good if you give it a typhoon missile launcher)

Did his long fangs do anything at all?

I notice two things; His list is absolutely terrible and completely non-competitive and he had awful, absolutely miserable, pathetic, die rolls the entire 3 turns. I would never take that list any where near Ard' Boyz for fear that I may spontaneously combust into flames and die.

I love small 'elite' armies like these.

I just look at the lists and say... 'That's it?'

For the battle, I have to agree with Shatter.proof that it seems like there was something missing from his side of the battle.

I think they spent the first two turns getting into position to get owned, if I'm not mistaken. They walked onto the board the first turn, making them pretty useless from the get go.

his brother couldn't belive he killed only 2 of my models in 3 turns.

i might be mistaken on how many Terminators were with njal. they died so fast

His longfangs actually got a shot off at one of my rhinos, but they missed and stunned one. BTW they had 3 missile launchers and 2 lascannons.



it actually his first 'Ard boyz (mine too) so i don't think its his final list.

My list has actually gone through 4 incarnations over the last month so my list was probably better.



I know he had alot less models then me, but i assumed that was due to the 3 characters he had. and 2 units of terminators.

His Blood claws never got out of their LRC.

He didn't have a paper list so i don't know if he was short on points.

Well let's look at it this way:

He probably thought: Ultramarines have Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield Terminators, why can't I? Those Terminators with Logan are something like 63 points a pop...WASTE.

Next up...the Drop Pod unit as we have already discussed was too big to put in a Drop Pod...should of given the Assault Cannon guy a Cyclone Missile Launcher and put him with the Long Fangs.

If I'm not mistaken...he has almost 700-800 points in Characters...next time he comes at you with a list like that, do him a favor and ask him to re-think it.

For future reference:

You cannot both move flat out (up to 18") and shoot the hb on your lss in the same turn
