Now in Nashville TN looking for gaming group for 40k

I am new to the Nashville TN area and found this site while looking for a gaming group for warhammer 40k. I play Tau, though i have yet to really play. I have been painting on and off since 1998 and picked up Tau in 2001. I would like to get into the playing side of the hobby and am looking for a group in the area. thanks for the help will continue to check back here.

Welcome to Nashville and your in luck! We have 3 game stores in the general area. In Nashville itself we have Wargames LLC http://wargamesminis.com/index.php?main_page=contact_us&zenid=dm2uf413pqo2s1gl931e2a6h36 (a great shop for newer players and smaller games); in Hermitage there is the Game Keep http://thegamekeep.com/ ; and then in Murfreesboro there is my FLGS Grand Adventures Comics http://www.grandadventurescomics.com/index.php/about . All three tend to have opening gaming on thursday nights and GA has tournaments once a month.

PM me if you have any questions.

I used to play at Game Keep under previous owners when it was Games Extraordinaire, and I've played there a few years ago as Game Keep. I can say the store and staff are very cool, and when I was there it seemed you could always find a game. Of course, this was years ago, but at the time most of the people there were fun to play with.

I lived in Hermitage back around 2005. The Game Keep was not a cool place. The owner did not want to help you if you had any questions, and in 9 months I never once saw a game of GW played their.

The owner also did not really want to help me find a group of people playing.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

Thats unfortunate. I haven't played there for a very long time, but I know from 1994-early 2000s Game Keep and its predecessor had a huge GW crowd. I hope they can get more GW going on in the future.

The game keep is an older store in a state of "mild" disrepair. They currently have a very active 40k crowd on Thursday nights. My gaming club the Blade N Bolter Boyz game there.

My FLGS of choice is Grand Adventures in Murfreesboro. Friendly owner, ethusiastic and easy going gamers, and a nice clean gaming area with lots of tables and nice terrain.

Well, I live in nashville currently, and I often play at the Keep on Thursdays.

I agree that the store is in a state of disrepair. Another sad factor is that a lot of (younger) kids have started coming. While this isn't at first a bad thing. They can be a little loud, and routy. Doesn't always make for a good situation when you are in tight quarters.

Of late, there has been a lot of talk about moving the Blade and Bolter people to the wargames store. The store is clean, well lit, and generally frequented by the slightly older more professional type crowd.

I think it will be a great move.

If you want to come out to the Keep on a Thursday send me a message and I will look for you. I can introduce you to some of the people and you can make up your own mind about which store is the best.

The Keep's prices tend to be a little on the higher side, while both Grand Adventures and Wargames tend to want to work with their customers a little more by offer various discounts and friendly service.

Could you do me a favor and keep me posted by IM on the B&B boys club? Friend me on Dakka or something. Do they have a website?

I live in Knoxville but I might be back in Nashville some day, and I have family there, and I'd like to play with you all sometime and see if I recognize anyone. Heh, I keep my blade and bolter boys '96 membership card in my box next to my old photos

Sure thing.

If you google "Blade and Bolter Boyz" the website will show up. Currently our forum is down, and I'm not really sure what is going on with that. But you are always welcome to post up.

How long have you been living in Knoxville? I moved from there to Nashville last July. I was playing 40k at Sci-fi City in Easttown mall for a while. I might have battled you once before.

I've been living in Knoxville for almost three years now. I work for the state. I'll look up your forum when I get a chance.

By the way, how did the hermitage area fare during the floods?

Pretty much everywhere was flooded. I don't think that the East side got it as bad as the west/downtown, but honestly I don't really know.

We didn't have power/tv/internet for almost a 5 days, and by then the majority of the water had really gone down. So I missed the majority of the news.
