Hey everyone!

So, I wrote a tournament tracking software package that I feel is easy to run and understand, but I don't really have the time and effort to sell it commercially. So, I'm offering it up for free download, and will send the source to people who are serious about continuing work on it.

Here's the link to the documentation:

Instructions

Download software

It is written in Java, so you MUST FIRST INSTALL JAVA onto your computer before it will run!

If you're interested in developing the software further let me know and I'll make the source code available.

its an ambitious project, to be sure.

how are you storing the players? are they stored on a tournament by tournament basis? it keeps returning a cannot find RTTTAddressbook.ser error, which leads me to believe your storing player information in that file, which isn't available.

not sure why your instructions are in a jar, you really should format them as a txt file for easier reading.

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

This is exactly what I was trying to do. I'll have to check this out when I get home.

Do you plan on using anything to keep stats on running a campaign?

I fought for the Glory of the Emperor, I saw my mates die on the line. Did he say anything, not a frakking thing.

The address book is stored in the same directory as the program. If you run it directly from the download there is nowhere to save the data! You'll want to save it to your machine before you run it.

The link for the instructions was mistyped, it's actually a Word (or Open Office) document.

@ petty3 - I don't plan on doing any other specific work on it except bug fixes. However because the categories are user defined, you could store campaign information in it if you choose, but a spreadsheet would probably be better for that since there generally aren't pre-defined pairings made for campaigns.

This thread is nearly 2 years old now, so I hesitate to continue the Necro, but...
I attempted contacting BaronTuman about a year ago through various channels and never got a response.
BaronTuman, if you're still around, did you ever end up continuing this project?
If not, and if you did give out the source code, do you consider it Open Source and under what licence?

Hello everyone,

First, thanks for the comments. I'm not supporting this program any longer, because honestly, it was a learning exercise and I made a few fatal mistakes that would require re-writing the software from scratch to overcome.

The good new however, is that I AM re-writing it from scratch, and the new version will be better than anything that currently exists.

Good luck with this endeavor I look forward in this

Also, how does one apply to be a member of the Ultramodrines? Are harsh trials involved, ones that would test my faith as a wargamer and resolve as a geek?

I look forward to your future endeavors.

But in the meantime, this thread is going to its rest.
