Subject: Is control area dynamic?

Hi all,
New to warmachine here. I've got the rulebook and Cygnar book but not had a chance to play a game yet. I'm a bit confused on one aspect of control areas though.
The rulebook states that the control area is equal to the caster's current focus. Is this a dynamic thing?
ie. Haley has 7 focus giving her an area of 14". She allocates 6 focus to her warjacks at the start of the turn leaving her with 1, is her control area now 2"
It just seems like the control area would get very confusing if it changes every time you use a point of focus, particularly with control area effects happening at different points in the turn. Also, if I cast a spell costing 2 focus, does it decrease my control area 4" before the effect takes place?
Thanks in advance.

Control area is equal to your current Focus STAT. So as long as your stat doesn't change, the number of focus you have is irrelevant.
Now there are effects that can reduce/increase the stat.
Denegra1's Feat, the Withering, reduces FOC stat by -2. Among other stats.
So vs Haley, if Denny catches her in the Feat, Haley has a FOC of 5 for the turn, therefore a control area of 10".

Perfect. I thought it was likely to be that (just because otherwise it'd be so complex) but the wording 'current focus' in the rulebook through me.
Must have misread the stat part of the word :-)

It may be buried later in the description or in a different part of the Warcaster section

It probably only says "Current Focus" to reflect powers that change Focus. Don't confuse your Focus stat with Focus points.
