Do we have any Dakka-ites from the South Jersey/Philly area? Where do you get together to play... and do you maybe have room for a newbie? I know there's a GW store in Voorhees but I've always been reluctant to play in a store. I'm not sure why.

On the Philly side you've got Showcase Comics in Media and Bryn Mawr which are probably the best stores for gaming in the area. You've got Red Cap's in university city (Center City) close to 40th and chestnut, they're up and coming from what I've seen. Outside a store you've got PAGE which meets in rittenhouse square. On the Jersey side you've got Voorhees and Ye Olde Hobby and Games in Cinnaminson. I was and still am looking for gamers to meet up in south philly.

I live in Jersey, the game room store, and Jester's playhouse the former being better, are both really nice stores... Google should yield satisfactory results. The game room is a little bit more north though...

You might want to check out the Voohees GW. Mike Dicicco just took over as manager and is giving it a good revamp. There are a ton of people playing various games at my shops, especially the one in Granite Run Mall. Newbies and veterans all welcome.

Yea, both Showcase locations are great--though if you are coming from Jersey the Bryn Mawr location would be closer for you. I'm originally from South Jersey and grew up playing at Jesters--but I feel they have started to slip as of late (and unless their policies have changed again) they charge by the hour for gaming during non-sanctioned times.

I can't remember the name of it but a store recently opened in Vineland--though they are geared more toward Warmachine (when I was last there they had no GW in stock).

I'm working on getting together a couple tables in my basement so people can hang out and play there, but at the moment terrain consists mainly of styrofoam. : (

If you plan on coming into Philly to game send me a PM. Showcase has a good-sized group that shows up on Saturdays.

Should I have an interweb record? No...no--it would be too shameful.

Honestly revamp isn't the word. He has turned the store into hands down the best place I've ever played, and I have played in a lot of places, on 2 different continents. Honestly, this store has an incredible community, mostly because of Mikes effort. You could get a 40k game in any day of the week (its only open wed-sun), and the WHFB is starting to surge with expectation of the new addition. I whole heartedly recommend giving it a try.

I'm going to have to give another plug here for the Voohees store. I don't know what has changed since the last couple of times I have made the trip to Vorhees (75mins) but the store seems like a very differant place. The community is fantastic and Mike has lots of ideas for events this summer. I'm going to try and make it as much as possible this summer.

Been to the store a couple of times now, and Mike is a great guy. Feel sorry he has to run the whole show by himself, but he still manages to keep everything smooth. I heard a lot of bad things about GW stores, but obviously the haters haven't been to vorhees. He really packs them in on Saturday nights, and is accommodating to all kinds of events. In my experience over the last several months there are two places to go and get regular games, there used to be three but ye olde hobby has sadly shut down several weeks ago, and the majority of the crowd there now games at Mike's shop. The other store usually hosts Warhammer 40k on Saturday nights, it's called The Comic Book Shop, and they're located over in Glassboro. Mike probably has a lot more room, but the folks who run the store over there, Alex the owner and Kevin, are cool guys and they have a regular crowd of dedicated gamers, though perhaps a lot smaller then the Vorhees crowd, which can be a lot younger.

There's also a group of us that meet in Center City Philadelphia on Sunday nights:

Miniatures night tends to take place on the 4th Sunday of the month (the other nights being boardgaming), but you can generally arrange a miniatures game for any meeting if you check in advance.
