Hello guys, though I am a 40K player at heart, a friend and I are starting to think on playing some Warmachine/Hordes. Since I know little to nothing about the game besides a bit of fluff and fiction, I was wondering if you guys could help me decide (For my starting force) between either Cygnar or Khador, (since those two are my favs). I plan on collecting both eventually, but I was wondering on which one is s bit more "beginner friendly", or if they are the same in that aspect, then which one do you think is cooler and why. Or should I start with Horde (I'd play Circle of Orobos) ?

If you like 40k you will probably love Warmachine once you get into it.

Both depending on the army can be user friendly.

Cygnar tends to be a more shooty army though you can easily build a strong melee beat down list with them.

Khador despite their apparent specialty in hand to hand actually has some killer shooting units as well as decent spells.

So either way your options are actually very open, what is your prefered play style? e.x. melee, shooty, control, spell spam

The usual suggestion here is to pick the army you want to paint, this is in fact fantastic advise sine every faction is competitive and offers a great deal of flexibility and variety.

I say go with the models you like most. That way you will feel proud having them on the table even if they aren't doing so hot. Which is inevitably going to happen no matter how skilled the player or how brutal the list, it all comes down to dice and they can and will defeat you.

Cool, thanks for the advise. At the moment I'm leaning a bit towards Cygnar ( LOVE the Grenadiers), but Khador has some cool looking units too. And I do prefer shooting over hand to hand.....but I do like experimenting with different styles of tactics.

Honestly i say go cygnar, long gunners are fantastic as are Gun Mages, the black 13th, storm lances, storm blades. It is very easy to tailor a cygnar list, you can quickly and effectively switch from melee to ranged specializations and some times all it takes is changing to a different warcaster.

Take the suggestions on here with a grain of salt, some of us can get stuck in our ways or only recommend the units we prefer to use.

You might want to post it as soon as you have a solid idea about what you want to take. The people here will give you tactical tips as well as warning about why you may not want to take a model which in turn may save you some money.
