So yea, I tried this for the first time today, first did retribution of scyrah though it was fun, I didn't like this army at all.
So after some good research, I ended up playing another 2 games using Legion of Everblight, this, however was very much to my tastes.
All games were against Khador (which completely hammered me with beast 09) and in the last game I nearly got the bugger too, stupid butcher.
So the Legion lists I played were as follows (both 15 points)
Lilith
Shepard
Strider Deathstalker
Raek
Raek
Teraph
3x warspears
The lack of any heavy (and me not playing them right) got me hammered here though.
second game:
Lilith
Strider Deathstalker
Raek
Raek
Carnivean
(all Legion models were proxied with empty bases )
This game my carnivean held of the beast for just long enough to get lilith in range of mister butcher, and I got on Raek up in his face. If not for crappy damage roll's he'd have been gone, but his bloody armor and 20 hp saved him, he had 5 left.
So, I'm buying the second list as a starting point. Completely loved the Raek's speed.
All in all, I think I'm gonna like this game better then WHFB/ WH40K.
So.. any advice on this army would be nice, I'm planning them for speedy assassinations. If Angelius' model was more to my liking i'd have used him.

That's pretty much the Legion tactic - a speedy assassination run.

o.O how can you not like the Angelius model!? Lylith isn't bad place to start she can pull off a ranged assassination when angles for warbeast charges don't pan out. Typhon and carniveans are a nice heavy warbeast to bolster your force. At higher point games I really like raptors they are stupid fast and can hammer a (living) target when they need to. Nyss swords man are also a nice unit for legion.

When the Axe comes down just pray your face isn't beneath it.
2500 , 2500 100 points of Circle of Orboros 50 points of legion 50 points of Khador, 15 points of Cryx and 15 points of menoth |

For some reason I don't like the wing designs on any of the legion warbeasts.
Though I'm guessing I will be getting Angelius anyway, since Khador will be my main enemy most of the time.... and Angelius has AP.
Edit: Oh quick question about the Raek. Are you allowed to leap over someone and then backstab them? (using Animus to avoid any free strikes)

You can leap over and attack from the back arc, but since you didn't start your activation there you won't get back strike bonuses. You will, however, ignore shields if you do so, so it's certainly not useless.
Also remember that Leap is a place effect: Since you're not actually moving through anyone's melee range, you get to ignore free strikes anyway.

Yea but to actually be able to make the leap behind a model, your gonna have to get into the range of anything with reach.

Doesn't matter. Free strikes only happen when you move out of a model's melee range. As the Raek is placed within 5 inches, it doesn't actually move and doesn't trigger a free strike, whether it was in a model's melee range or not.

Nice, didn't realize that difference.
So, p and e Gaspy could use teleport safely out of combat if the wording is 'placed'.
Cheers! Prob. won't come up too much

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Yeah Angelius and Seraph are probably two of the best warbeasts Legion has. Other than Typhon and the Carnevian.
Typhon is almost too good. Once you start playing him he'll be in every list you make.

I'm just a huge fan of Raek's model and play wise. So I pretty much want one of those in anything I do.

I think it has to do with the posting in this section of Dakka. If you want to see more about strategy, you could probably check out the legion of everblight community section on the PP forums. Some of the tactics stuff there is ok, but you might have to go through the other threads to find them.
I've only just started, (and on vassal, at that, though I plan to go tabletop when I can,) and there really is a point to be made about epic Thagrosh. He is the strongest warlock in the faction, and has some pretty mean abilities. Because of this, I suggest not going to him right away so you can learn more tactics. I myself has started to experiment with other warlocks (tried saeryn, she's alright but I only like 1 of her spells, and the feat is good as beast heavy vs melee). I plan to try abylsonia and pThragosh soon (the un-epic version).
A few things I've learned (though I'm still learning). The typhon (12pt character heavy warbeast) is a monster, but can also be killed in one turn if the opponent commits to it, especially with those hard-hitting jacks. Also, if you go up to a model to spray, either letting it be high def or very durable helps, so you can keep spraying over it. If it dies, you cant keep spraying (as typhon can bite or spray 3 times, but only if you have a model in melee range).
Something I tried once after having my typhon murdered twice, was to go on the offensive. I kept raeks going after the caster (I had 2), and though it had trouble hitting (and one of them did well though, getting through the def 17 and getting the merc caster i played against down to 5 health), what it really helped me do was get my typhon in and kill stuff. By the end of it both of our forces were mostly wiped out, except for my typhon.
Honestly, from what I have learned so far, the best advice I can give is to just play. you will learn so much by playing, and using all kinds of tactics, and getting a feel of the faction. I also suggest trying out different casters, and while you may choose to use eThagrosh (I plan to buy him, too, when I get on the tabletop), don't rely on him every game. This will help you become a better player.

I'm not planning to get Thagrosh at all But thanks for the tips. Though I don't think you're allowed to multi spray with Typhon. Could've misread though.

In combat you can, but not shooting. Gunfighter lets you use your ranged attacks in melee range (0.5 inches), and multiple heads lets you do 3 initial attacks with any combo of blight breath or bite, so you can do 3 sprays, 2 and a bite, 1 and 2 bites, or none and all bites for your initial attacks. You can't buy any breath attacks though by forcing though. Its part of what makes Typhon such a monster. Can crack open jacks or cook up multiple small basers (or both, if you're feeling fancy and spray through a jack at the guys behind, then buy bites on the jack). Thats why he costs so many points.
As I said, playing will help you out more than advice. You'll be able to come up with all kinds of crazy tactics on your own. Just keep in mind that the faction isn't as durable as some of the others.
Also, raptors are pretty good (though 6pts for 3 feels pricey). They move 9, can shoot 12" with their poison bows (pow 10, but an extra damage die against living models), and then can make another 5" move because they are light cavalry. They also have pathfinder so you can go through terrain easily. If you must, you can send them in for a charge, where they'll have +1 dmg die for weapon master, and if theyre charging, another for the charge (4 dice total for that). If those miss hopefully your pow 12 mount will finish supplement it. They aren't really meant for charging, but the option certainly adds to their versatility

The Typhon can multispray all the time, it is not restricted to melee.

Thats why it is so brutal, especially when it is combined with eThagrosh and couple of Carnies.

Haven't seen this before. Interesting. What about in the case where you charge in, spray, kill the thing in front of you. Are you allowed to do any ranged spray after already doing melee ones?

I would say that the Typhon can spray freely as the rules for charging say:
Hordes Field Test Rules page 19 wrote:After making a charge attack during its activation, the charging model completes its combat action normally.
In normal cases you cannot do both melee and ranged attacks on the same activation, but Typhon's Multiple Heads rule overrides that.

Indeed.. just checked it.
Multiple Heads - This model can make three initial attacks each combat action, using any combination of Blight Breath and Jaw
attacks. This model loses one initial attack for each aspect it has lost. This model cannot be forced to make additional Blight
Breath attacks.
That's typhons ruling.
As for Raptor's I'd take them, if I didn't find their models so god awefull.... who the hell came up with moose riders? XD

I think they look great. Kind of an odd concept, but I can dig it. I've seen somewhere before where a guy said he converted wood elf glade riders into raptors because he didn't like the models. Probably not tourney/league legal, though.

Well, I'm still abhorred by the idea of me playing Elves, I have a lot of hatred for those pesky ears ( thinking of filing ALL of them down, bloody elves) But the mounts just bug me. Even horses would be better.
Are the elves separate parts? Otherwise I might mount them on shredders XD or maybe even on Raeks, that oughta look good
