Imperials or Chaos are the staple fleets here. Either one of these is a good beginners fleet.
They differ somewhat in playing style though. Imperials like big torpedo spreads and getting closer (depends on opponent of course) to bring their broadsides into play, while Chaos like to snipe with Lances from a distance and get you with Assault Boats.

Forgeworld Tau is also a good starter fleet. Cheap to buy. Bit more tricky then IN / Chaos but not much. Focus on Ordnance.
Chaos is the long range gunnery fleet with many weapon batteries, good lances & ordnance. Plus good speed.
IN needs more to stuck in with shorter ranged weaponry.

Well the Emperor is only 345 points, for starters, so trim 20 points off there. And if you're going with the Emperor, you don't need the Mars' launch bays, as the Emperor has fighter and bomber support well covered already. So I'd recommend subbing that out for an Overlord for the better firepower, which also saves you 35 more points.
If you like Nova cannons, you can upgrade the Lunar and the Tyrant each with a Nova Cannon in place of it's prow torpedoes for 20 per ship. Both Torps and Novas are nice weapons, but it determines your play style. Torps get you in close, Novas encourage you to hang back. Either way, I'd recommend paying the extra 10 points to upgrade the Tyrant's broadside guns to longer range. You'll thank me for that.
Small squadrons of escorts have little effect on the game. The cobras are useful for their torpedo salvoes, but the other two squads will get chewed up before they can get into firing position, leaving them with very little firepower to make a difference. I would recommend going with a large squadron of 6 sword frigates and no firestorms (and saving the 15 points). The dice generated by 5 or 6 sword frigates is scary, their LFR fire arc is huge, and an opponant CANNOT afford to ignore them. 6 sword frigates on lock-on orders can DECIMATE a battleship when they drift into range.
If you don't upgrade to nova cannons on the two cruisers, my suggestions leave you with 60 or 70 more points. 60 more points could be used on a leadship reroll and another escort vessel, another leadership reroll and a nova cannon upgrade, or a bigger Admiral. Tough choice. Leadership rerolls are worth their weight in gold, and the Imperials can purchase more of them than anyone else. But a LD 9 admiral is a life saver too, especially for a battleship who is going to be using Reload Ordinance orders almost every turn.

I would stick with the Mars, myself. At 1,500 points, 12 launch bays is a good number. I would take the Gothic over the Tyrant, but that is really personal preference. Overall, you have a pretty solid IN list there.
