The Dwight’s World Incident

My lords
Following reports from the 15th Cadian Regiment of sightings and skirmishes with the Xenotype Orks I dispatched scouts to search
the Eula province where the fighting was said to have occurred. Having successfully located what seems to be a sizeable Ork tribe
I composed a strike force to attack with the aim of eliminating the xenos presence thereby preventing further escalation in the area.
My Report follows.
Emperor protects.
Brother Captain Winston Greene
3rd company Marines Revenant
Turn 1
Marines
My Marines having deployed opted not to move instead firing at the advancing Xeno.
Combat squad+captain: Targeted Ork Assault troops managed to kill one and wound their
Warboss.
Combat Squad: Fired Krak munitions at enemy walker, however failed to damage the construct.
Scouts: Utilising Kraken munitions managed to slay another three of the Orks and wound the squad leader
Whirlwind: Despite hitting six Xeno only one wound was inflicted upon the squad leader.
Orks
With a Large group armed for assault hiding in the ruin opposite us A shoota armed squad aimed at our left flank whilst a Killa Kan
set up far forward to try and assault the right.
Slugga Boyz+Warboss: Ignoring the incoming fire the Xeno approached our lines opting to run towards us rather than shoot,
it seemed the savages hoped to assault us.
Shoota Boyz: Having manoeuvred into the cover of some debris they proceed to unleash a torrent of fire into the combat squad
next to the Whirlwind. Despite over thirty recorded hits my marines armour held true and none fell
Killa Kan: The monstrosity opted to move towards my brave scouts running towards them with plans of assault
Turn 2
Marines
With the Orks rapidly approaching their numbers would need to be drastically reduced if the my marines were to resist any assault.
Combat squad+captain: The hallowed Tactica itself states attack is the best form of defence so under covering fire from our scouts
we pushed towards the Warboss and his squad, brother Murio’s flamer killing two of the rabble as we charged into combat, my brave marines
slew six of the Xeno before they could even respond. Finding myself engaged in single combat with their Warboss I eventually dispatched him
despite taking a wound. In the face of our assault the cowardly Orks broke only to be run down by my victorious troops.
Combat squad: Despite putting heavy fire into the shoota armed Orks only one was killed as the cowardly enemy chose to hide in the ruins for cover.
Scouts: Ignoring the oncoming Killa Kan with Discipline worthy of true space marines they targeted the Warboss squad killing five of the scum in a hail of bolter fire.
Whirlwind: Targeted the shoota wielding Orks with the aim of cleansing them from the cover with Castellan warheads. However,
due presumably to technical malfunction the warhead scatterd far wide of target only managing to kill one of the xeno.
Orks:
Arguably the turn the battle was lost, after some appaling luck in both assaults the ork force was now outgunned and outnumbered.
Slugga Boyz+Warboss: After heavy casualties to incoming fire they then found themselves overrun and destroyed to an ork,
their saving grace the fact that their squad leader, wielding a crude power fist killed two of my brave marines before they were overrun.
Shoota Boyz: Surviving much of our firepower through devilish luck they targeted the combat squad again, bringing down a marine
under the weight of their fire.
Killa Kan: Killing a scout with its rocket launcher the walker proceeded to assault them, with our right flank looking set to crumble it
was only the timely response of Scout sergeant Schulze who, utilising melta charges wrecked the monstrosity before it could attack.
Turn 3
Marines
With the battle now firmly in our favour all guns turned to the remaining shoota Orks.
Combat squad+captain: With the success of our previous assault behind us we advanced on our final target aiming to finally rout the enemy.
As we advanced into combat Brother Murio’s flamer cleansed the debris of another three orks.
Combat Squad: Despite firing many shots at the Orks few hits were recorded and even those neglected to do any damage,
Investigation into the squads firing rites will be held and necessary punishments enforced.
Scouts: Continuing to distinguish themselves they claimed another two Xeno.
Whirlwind: As with the previous phase firing proved ineffective, despite hitting an estimated ten targets, no wounds were inflicted
indicating yet more problems with this machines ordinance, Tech priests will be informed of these errors.
Orks
As they were charged before they could even fire the balance of the game now rested in the assault.
Slugga Boyz+Warboss: Deceased
Shoota Boyz: As my marines charged the Orks the sprang from cover gaining a brief advantage, as blows bounced off our armour,
however their leader wielding a mighty axe managed to wound me. In response my brothers and I felled five of the savages who broke under
our fury allowing us to run them from the field.
Killa Kan: Deceased
Conclusions:
Skill of the marines and hideous luck of the Orks meant the early loss of the Warboss and his squad
(the Warboss only caused one wound despite 5 ws5 s10 attacks), However the Marines fire power especially on their left flank proved consistently ineffective.
Man of the match goes the scout sergeant whose timely destruction of the killa kan held the right flank and allowed my captain’s squad to focus on the remaining
shootas.
Kill points: Marines: 4 (everything) Orks 1 (captain below half wounds)
Marines win.
