Sup dakka, Kabal here. I've decided that the people on 40k Online don't appreciate my many batreps as much as i would like (i get so few comments ) so i'll repost my most recent one here.

Me and my brother were preparing for the tournament at our store next saturday (the 10th), and played a 2000 point games with our respective lists. I've finally gotten around to seeing how many blasters and extra dark lances i could make, and so was using a semi different list from what i normally ran, and he was trying out lists willy nilly. He's not that great at writing them, and hence i was helping him write them... Even if this one he ignored all my advice...

This game was 4 objectives, Pitched Battle deployment

I get first turn, and deploy in the middle. Both my objectives are close to the middle, and in cover, so both Dark Lance squads deploy on one. The raiders are all in the middle, with ravagers on the flanks. Mandrake tokens are in the front. The 10 man foot squad with sybarite deploy behind the 9 man warrior squad's raider, so they can get in, and the warriors from said raider deploy between both objectives.

The two cobblestone houses are the objectives. Lol.

He deploys expecting me to come up the middle, i guess. Venerable dreadnought on his objective (they are both to far sides) to my left, and the rhino and razorback to the objective on my right. The razorback squad is combat squadded, and the missile launcher plus 4 are infiltrating thanks to sicarius, as are the scouts. The ML squad infiltrates next to the dreadnought (why couldnt they have just deployed there? O.o) and the scouts on top of one of the spires... i thought cheese but we agreed they can't get down, and it's a 5+ cover (4+ with camo cloaks)
His objectives are the bookcase and another house near the rhino

Archon Amar'ath surveyed the horizon from his lightly hovering Raider. They had come across an advance patrol of white scars. Just two vehicles and one of their celebrated walking sarcophagi. Easy prey. What he knew to be even better was the fact that more would come... and more slaves are always welcome in the pens of commoragh. He moved his forces forward and one of his incubi retinue stepped forward.
'Lord, there are beacons scattered throughout the area. If we don't want the entire mon-keigh fleet upon us, we must... requisition them from the enemy.'
The lord considered this, and then with a hiss of pleasure and a narrowing of his eyes, proclaimed, 'Yes... This will be a wondrous harvest indeed. Tell the warriors that they are to deploy around the beacons. I want all the raiders here, around my position, Now.'

He fails both of his rolls to steal the initiative (a 4 and a 5, lol)

DE Turn 1

All the Raiders turbo boost to the light left sight, to his comment of 'Oh, gak'
Ravagers all move 6" or so a piece, and the foot warrs (not DL's) advance, then run 6", after the mandrake tokens all advance too.
The DL ravager wrecks the razorback, Disintegrator Ravagers together kill 5 scouts (my scatters were awful) and the sniper squads shake the ven dreadnought.

'Now! Attack, now that they think they are prepared! Show them the futility of combating the True Kin!' The archon screamed, as the sleek vehicles leapt forward. Glancing back, he saw lances of dark energy pierce the vehicle with the Mon-keigh's las technology, and a pillar of smoke sprung from the hatches, as more beams leapt to the top of one of the many stone pillars dotting the landscape, exploding amidst scouts that he had not seen previously. This was what those pilots were hired for, he thought.

Marine Turn 1

the Ironclad Dread comes in, Kills 3 warriors, who break and fall an amazing 12 " back, and next turn fail their morale and get off the table.. Failures. The newly disembarked marines from the Razorback run behind cover, all his missiles miss, to his dismay.

But the enemy had it's instant response team in motion now, and a drop pod hurtled from above, crashing almost directly upon the squad charging forward on foot, unable to restrain their need for souls. A larger, more armored version of the walking sarcophagi that he was currently speeding towards emerged from the smoking crater the pod had created. It swung around towards the charging squad, and opened fire. As a few dropped, the cowards took notice and fled back towards the beacons and beyond as a hail of bolter rounds spread over their heads. Turning from this scene in disgust, the Archon looked towards the prey they were moving towards, and caught out of the corner of his eye the trail of a missile coming from the pillartop towards him. It was a superb shot, he thought, considering the speed the raider was moving at, and narrowly missed them. That would be a good man for the arenas!
He saw another missile arc from near the dreadnought at one of the other vehicles in his pack, but it, as well, missed its target. He grinned in anticipation of the coming slaughter

DE Turn 2

The Wych Raider turbo boosts to the board edge behind the marines and dread, while everyone else moves up to firing positions.
Warriors kill 4 marines (damn his ML still alive ) Dark Lances and Blasters whiff the venerable Dread, but in my own zone, immobilize and shake the ironclad. Whiffs on the scouts

Amar'ath observed with distaste that Dracite Kibeth had jetted over the prey they were approaching, in favour of being able to make a faster run on the next enemy position. Too bad that he always had the best pilots of his fleet as the one controlling his own. Sybarite Khar'lan saw his Lord's concentration occupied by the activity of his second and immediately understood what had happened. He turned to his men and proclaimed, 'The lord is after a different fight! be honored that he has left us here to show our strength.. make him regret giving us this freedom. Slaughter them all, we feast on souls today!' His men yelled and screamed, as they opened a deadly hail of splinter fire upon the 5 figures they were speeding towards. 4 dropped, and the 5th ducked farther down around the ledge he was cowering behind.
Back at the beacons, the pilot of the Lord's own anti-armour ravager grinned in vengeful pleasure at the damage wrought upon the walker that had caused a portion of the strike force to flee. They had crippled one of its legs, and a shot had glanced across it's face plate, seeming to knock it senseless for a moment

Marine Turn 2

His Terminators come in, his drop pod stays out, as do the assault marines. The termis use the locator beacon on the pod, and come in to it's right... directly in front of one of my sniper squads.

The venerable Dreadnought stuns one of the raiders (warrior squad's), his missiles miss again, and termis kill 4 warriors, thanks to allocation one of them happens to be a DL.
The VenDread assaults the raider, explodes it, and 2 die and get pinned. Fuuuuun.

Khar'lan, already feeling the void in his soul easing slightly, slightly, took an almost savage pleasure watching as his rival's raider was shot down by the walker in front of him, and seeing his men die and crawl miserably out of the wreckage. He felt the life force drawn towards the large ammount of warriors on his own raider, and saw the pleasure on their faces.
Back at the deployment zone, the pilot from before gasped in astonishment as the heavily armored enemy forces, terminators, they were called, materialized next to the drop-crater, and gunned down a portion of the squad on one of the beacons.

DE Turn 3

The Wych And Archon Raiders turbo boost towards the other objective, now that i practically have this one. The mandrakes pop out behind the terminators. Combined Dark Lance, Disintegrator, and mandrake fire kill 5 of them, while the remaining raider in the top left stuns the vendread (it would have been wrecked but no, i had to reroll it...) The warriors inside the raider kill the last marine, and the mandrakes assault the terminators, killing none, losing 3, but passing morale.

Amar'ath, hearing the mayhem going on back at his beacons, barked an order into his earpiece. Those mandrake beasts weren't cheap, and they would do something useful for him! One of the mandrakes hissed back over the transeiver 'Of Courssse, lord. They shall be destroyed. Your warmachines are already doing a wondrousss job of staining their pristine white armour dark with anti-matter and bloood.. yesssssss'
Archon Amar'ath sat back in his throne aboard his vehicle, and watched as the ever eager Dracite Kibeth advanced her raider at breakneck speed over towards the other squads and beacon they had been moving across from. Apparently she was under the impression she was not needed here, and so thought to move ahead before Amar'ath. His eyes narrowed. No one advances before the lord, he is always the first to the bloodiest combat, and would not be passed by such an insolent wych-child!
'After them! We will be the first to the fray, or you will be the one to suffer my wrath, pilot!'

Marines Turn 3

The assault marines and his remaining drop pod come in from reserves. The assault marines deploy within 6" of the drop pod, to the left this time, while the sternguard and sicarius drop right behind the Archon's raider... The assault marines shoot up 3 of the DL warriors, while the sternguard immobilize and thus destroy the archon's raider. Fire from Rhinos and such kill 3 incubi. His ironclad attempts to meltagun one of the dissie ravagers but is out of range thanks to night shields.
In the assault, the mandrakes kill a terminator, but lose two of their number and flee...

Khar'lan, now lounging with most of his squad, save those taking potshots at the dreadought, observed that there were more of the enemy descending from flying packs, and another pod left a crater directly across from Amar'ath's raider.
Amar'ath, shocked by the sudden crash, turned in surprise as the emerging marines leveled their guns cooly at his speeder and two melta rounds flew at the engine, crippling it. He grabbed hold of part of the raider, then leapt off as it started to crash, along with the rest of his retinue. As they stood back up, more bolter fire from the rhino they had been moving towards ripped through three of his incubi, limbs torn from bodies, one's head ripped from its shoulders. Amar'ath turned and leveled a baleful glare at the men emerging from the crater, partcularly the overly ornate man, whom he recognized as one of their captains.

DE Turn 4
The mandrakes make it off the board with an obscenely cowardly roll.
The wyches disembark from their raider, move towards the rhino, and the raider maneuveres so as to deny his claims for cover- and explodes the rhino. This in return kills 3 marines and 1 wych. Ravager fire kills the assalt marines, the vendread gets stunned again, 2 more terminators fall to fire. A fun turn.
The Archon charges the sternguard (3 against 10!) and the wyches assault the marines. With the 12" assault drugs, they get both squads (the razorback's) in a double charge!

Amazingly, all of the wyches whiff and fail to wound, even with the two agonisers. 3 wyches die in return, but they pass leadership.
The Lord kills 2 sternguard, Drazhar kills 3 more, and the solo incubi kills another 2. They lose the incubi and one of drazhar's wounds in return, win combat, and chase down sicarius and the remainder of his squad. Slaves!!

Amar'ath Strode towards the interfering whelps, his punisher axe powering up, and the void in his sould hungering for satiation. At his side the silent figure of Drazhar, the blade master trod as well, a fiery gleam in his helmet's eyepieces assuring the death of warriors this day. Behind them hurried the remaining incubi, the newest member of amar'ath's retinue, determined to prove his worth. Striding right towards the enemy, Amar'ath lopped off the head of one of the offending marines; The one who had shot the melta blast that crippled his raider. By his side, Drazhar cut down three marines in a flurry of blades and blood- they fell before him, gashes across the chest, arms missing, and heads flying. Then, most surprisingly to Amar'ath, his remaining bodyguard kept up with the powerfully prestigious warrior, annihilating 3 more of the enemy with powerful strokes of his punisher axe.

The captain and two remaining warriors struck back, but slow as they were, missed the lord completely. Drazhar took a shallow gash across his chest from the captain, but the incubi, inexperienced as he was, was unable to avoid the crushing strength of the powerfist, and Amar'ath watched as his new favorite minion was pulped in the obscenely large fist of the marine. Funnily enough, the captain, seeing the futility of this battle, turned to flee, but the Archon, pitiless as he was, would have none of it, and struck him in the back of the leg with his axe, crippling him for the return trip to commoragh. Drazhar did the same with the remaining squad members, and then went about identifying the still live enemies amongst the carnage the three had caused.

Amar'ath turned to look at how Kibeth was faring, and saw her leap off her raider and charge towards the vehicle that tore apart three of his retinue. The raider's lance pierced and exploded the vehicle, and he grinned as he saw one of her wyches burn to a crisp and 7 figures emerged from the smoldering wreckage. In a blindingly fast movement, she and her squad assaulted the warriors and the others in the area. He watched with relish as she confronted apparently superior warriors- neither her nor her retinue managed to kill a single one, but 3 of her guards fell in the scrim. She looked back, and their eyes connected, and she turned back to the fray with renewed determination. He grinned and turned away.
He growled then, those despicable mandrakes were fleeing! He turned and notified Drazhar that they were to be given to his haemonculi when they got back to the kabal's buildngs.

At this point, he gave up and i dont blame him. His terminator may have been able to kill that warrior squad he was about to charge, but i was about to kill his last troop squad able to hold objectives with the lord's squad assaulting in with the wyches. Although I did try to get him to play it out so he could get more experience.

But all was well other than the mandrakes. he had control of 3 of the beacons, and Kibeth would fight for the fourth now that she knew that he had annihilated the elites and she had struggled just killing grunts. She wouldn't take something that horrid, and if she couldn't destroy them, she wasn't worth being his second, and he would kill her himself.

As his warriors gunned down the last of the terminators, and the walkers were destroyed, he gave the order for the webway to open, and for the entirety of his force to descend upon the now blind force of the enemy.
Slaves would be taken, souls would be devoured. They would fear the night. They would wish for it to never come again.

This was also my first attempt at writing a fluffline along with the report. I've hesitated in the past because I hate reading poorly written fluff-batreps. But for this one, how did i do?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, so wow! In hindsight posting pictures on Dakka is so much more complicated! If i link from photbucket then the pictures are small and clicking on them just takes you to the album page.. but to upload here (maybe i don't know the tricks) takes forever, it gets out of order (should i select it as a group? Maybe..) and all in all not as easy. That's my only complaint though. I post a lot of batreps, and I'll be doing 3 more on 40kOnline after the tourny at least, maybe il post some or all of them here too, depending on how much feedback i get
I liked it. I don't really know how a list with 4 elites made it past you, but it didn't help him much, so oh well. I thought the fluff was fun!
Ipso facto auto-hit.
it was a mistake on his part and i was more peeved with the fact he had thrown out the list i had made him which was (Imho) so much better anyway. it just requires him to get off his ass and put together his last drop pod, lol
He's not very good, only 13 and still learning his own rules.. lol
Nice. I like it a lot, especially the fluff you added. I always write a story alongside my battles. But shouldn't those things be painted if you're going to a tournament?
it's just a local game store tournament, not even a games workshop store. Sadly, st.louis doesn't have one as the last one closed shop like a year ago
