Well this is a before and after battle report. Here we are the evening before a big game, so I thought it'd be good to write up the list we're using and what we expect the game might play like. Its always interesting to compare your thoughts before a game and see how the game actually played out!

So this is my space wolf army, I'm sharing command with a friend, he's in charge of red, I'm in charge of blue!

So thats our 1750 point list. Our opponent might be using his eldar, but its probably going to be his Marines. I'll edit the thread name if I get it wrong! We might also get tabled if we get it wrong, but its good to have a few surprises now and again.

His marine list is mostly made up of Dakka Preds, Two Heavy Bolter LandSpeeders, Drop pod Melta Dreads, Tacticals, Librarian with gate, 10 man Sternguard, Chapter Master with Honour Guard in Razorback.

So hopefully we'll face off against the Marines in a good evenly paced battle. I'm hoping the glory hunting speeder gets to pop open a tank or two, that would be a bonus. I'm playing the solo speeder cos I only have one model! The Redeemer should open up a nice can of pain on his tacticals or sternguard, I just hope we can get to them to inflict the most damage. Redeemers don't do well at long range firefights! The rest of the game is up to the rapid fire plasma gunning grey hunters and the Rune Priest. If they can hold the home objectives and maybe contest his, or get stuck in and earn some kills then the game should be wrapped up nicely!
I like running on my wolf scouts in a line, and charging two tanks if they're close enough. I managed to take out his two preds in one game. I'm sure he's learnt his lesson from that, but we shall see tomorrow!!

Here is stage two of this battle report installment

Well, it turned out we were up against some Space Marines. And our opponent had fitted a lot of firepower into his 1750 point force.

Here's a run down of what he fielded...

Chapter Master with and Combi Melta
3 Honour Guard, Champion, Banner - all in a twin lascannon razorback

10 man tac squad - melta gun, multi melta - in a rhino

10 man tac squad - melta gun, multi melta - in a rhino

2 dakka preds (autocannon and heavy bolter sponsons)

3 Mortis Dreadnoughts (two twin linked autocannons each, I allowed him to proxy to see how they played in a game)

1 squadron of 3 Landspeeders, each with 2 Heavy Bolters. Thats 18 heavy bolter shots for 180 points! OUCH!


And here's a picture of deployment. We won the roll but allowed him to deploy first so we could contest. The mission is seize ground and the setup is pitched battle.

So, here is the first turn, as you can see from the picture above there are 5 objectives on this lovely homemade board. All compliements to my opponent. I provided the two red barrels though for objectives!

We placed one objective in the building, with the long fangs babysitting it. They placed the two barrels just at their deployment zone, and the other two objectives (crates) were in the middle of the board, ready to be charged across!

So they went first and advanced across. Even the Mortis Dreads walked their 6 inches to get closer to the action!


I can count 6 Long Fangs...


Rhinos move up, one pops smoke.


Shooting phase begins, Chapter master calls in his famous orbital bombardment on my car park! But thankfully it travelled off the board 8" !! Joy


Shooting seemed to all be against the long fangs


and again against the long fangs! How many can you count? But they're hard as nails with Ld 9 so they passed and readied their missile launchers.
