I've been looking for months now on any Apocalypse games, even some which would last a weekend or so. I haven't found any, so I've been considering organising one. I had something in mind of renting out a meeting room somewhere (as many hotels offer meeting rooms for hire), with some tables and terrain and hosting a weekend long game. Obviously this is just a pipe-dream at the moment, however, has anyone done anything like this before? I'm just thinking if it would be easier or harder than it seems. If so, what experience have you had, either from attending or hosting one? What things are crucial to hosting something like this, such as ticket prices, location etc?

Thanks,

Edit: If anyone does know of any big Apoc games, feel free to reply.

I have organized a few. Perhaps not on the scale you are refering to though.

I find that 4-6 players max lends toa fun event. any more and you start to waste time as others sit around waiting for others to finish moving.

Keep turn time limits to a hard rule. IF you aint done what you need to do after x minutes turn over. Rule of thumb, 20 mins per side. (4-6 players)

Have a plot or story for the battle, something the involved forces can get into. Bring and battle mixed sides apoc games are pure crap and and not much fun IMHO.
(saw an apoc game where nids were with Ultramarines, against, ultramarines and necrons...Wot?

How easy was it for you to actually find players? Would a thread on here be able to provide enough players for a day-long game? I'm thinking of organising it in Brighton so it would be easeier to get there, etc.
