Subject: Question about the 40k Background section

Okay, I might just be crazy here, but I have a legitimate query.
Is the 40k Background section the appropriate place to post the fluff for DiY armies and characters? Sometimes it seems like nearly half the threads there are of the "check out my homemade fluff" variety. I don't know about anyone else, but I go to the Background section for questions and conversations about actual 40k background, rather than to grade what amounts to someone else's fanfic.
Is there a place those posts SHOULD be going? If not, would it be acceptable to post a poll asking if other people would be in support of making a NEW section for homebrewed stuff?

I don't think there's anything wrong with posting your " 40k" army's "background" in the " 40k Background" section... There's a lot of interesting stuff in there, have you seen "Death of the Emperor"? Besides, I'd rather read some interesting new creative fanfiction than another "Zomg female marines 10101010101" or "Who would win, Imperium or Federation or Galactic Empire or t3h Haloz doodses???" thread.

I think background for armies fits there well. For generic Fan-Fiction Dakka Fiction would be better.

Oddly enough we were discussing this just the other day.
The general consensus was that 40K background is indeed the best place to post players own fluff/backstory, as long as it's being presented for a quick peer review/polish or to check that if "fits" in the setting in most people's eyes. If they wish to really got o town and develop a long and/or complicated backstory then the fiction board would be a better place.
That said the concern is duly noted and shall be passed along to the MANAGEMENT of the site, as soon as they sober up/get out of rehab.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
