So a few of us at the LGS decided to start up Warmachine/Hordes, and we have one slightly more experienced player.

This is the 35 point list I've been running with fair success:

Kromac
-Warpwolf Stalker
-Gnarlhorn Ram
-Woldwatcher
-WoldWyrd
-Gorax

Wolf Lord Morraig
Blackclad Wayfarer

The Stalker And Morraig usually get sent wide to the side and engage in hit and run tactics, perferably from a forest. The Wyrd typically gets sent wide opposite of them and takes pot shots, perferably at models with an upkeep on them. Kromac advances up the center with the Woldwatcher screening him using stone form and Involiable Resolve to have a very respectable AC and able to pull one shot a round off of Kromac. The Gnarlhorn provides some control and defense with Counter Slam, and the Gorax shields and provides it's Animus or makes a nuciance of itself with weapon locks and throws. The Wayfarer uses Hunter's mark to extend the threat range of the chargers and A spray threat.

I think the Wayfarer is kind of an oddball in the list, I could certainly see replacing him with the druid wilder. Any other suggestions? I'd like to try out the druid unit and overseer too.

If I were you I would be looking for a melee unit, woo are a solid buy for the points and It's nice to diversify the list some.
