Hi all,

Recently I've been having a hankering to paint something bright and colourful, the exact opposite of my IG 40k army and so I got interested in the models available for PP games. I picked up a copy of the Hordes Prime Mk II book at a FLGS the other day but a quick perusal of the PP website shows many books, multiple of which appear to be rulebooks.

Could anyone please let me know what the best starter books are to buy to get good information on the basic games and perhaps some of the fluff for the current edition of both Hordes and Warmachine?

All suggestions appreciated.

the only book you need to play is the primal MK2 rulebook, the other books are all force books that are not required to play. that being said i buy all the force books for all armies to know more about opposing forces.

if your just into hordes, then your set, if your drifting into warmachine as well you will need Prime Mk2

Treat the 'Forces of' books like Codices for 40k. Only buy the one(s) for the army you play.

You need Prime MkII to play Warmachine and Primal MkII to play Hordes.

Thanks a lot guys, I'll pick up the Warmachine Prime Mk II rulebook and look through the two to see what I fancy painting up the most.
