Hi,
Warhammer Online already features Skaven as a non-playable race. It will stay that way (unfortunately), but with the upcoming RvR pack, they will introduce new material for Skaven:

In an interview today at the GamesCom in Cologne, Germany Carrie Gouskos, Producer for Warhammer Online, disclosed the first details of an upcoming 'RvR Pack'. Carrie would not give out the name yet but she did tell us that while Skaven are involved they will not be implemented as a standard race that players can play from level one. "We want to do something... different with Skaven" - She said.

The fact that we are working on new, paid content, that it is 100% RvR focused and that we're delivering a Skaven themed experience (which many, many have been asking for since the lanch of the game), is significant news. This was not an "official announcement", there was no press release, there's no videos or pomp and circumstance around it, hell, there isn't even an announced title for it. This was, pure and simple, a gesture that we want for the Community, the people who've supported us for the last 2 years, to know that we are working on delivering something new and fresh to you all. Ok...we're planning on doing something new and interesting with them. And it's not like that other game that begins with an A, ends with and N and has a moon of Jupiter sitting in the middle. That's it, that's all you'll get out of me for now.

A pity I can't afford a subscription :( I hope this helps revitalize the game, it had so much potential.

The game was enjoyable except when the Zerg rush tendencies kicked in and one side got bent over for a series of months, a patch would nerf/buff classes and the cycle would reverse and start anew.

ive been playing (or at least paying for) this game since its first day. its good to hear that an xpac is finally on the way. I really do hope that brings some new life and growth to the game.

Bit baffled by it all at the moment, but enjoying it regardless!

Had Skaven been a playable race from day 1, I probably would have played it. As it was delivered, I just didn't get all super-jazzed about the choices.
