Ok, I'm not normally one to complain about how people choose to run their private forums, but sometimes I think moderation can get a little heavy handed.
Recently, on another forum, there was a thread discussing the supposedly upcoming DE release. One member posted something along the lines of the following: "About the only thing we know for sure is that Squats are definitely not coming out this year."
This gave me a chuckle, so I responded with the following:
"What!?!? No Squats!?
Nooooooooooooooooo!"
Hopefully, you can see the at least attempted humor in my post. This post was made....at least a week ago, can't remember for sure.
Well, today, I got the following e-mail from said forum:
"Saldiven,
You have been warned by MODERATOR for the following post:
MODERATOR has given the following reason for the warning:
---------------------------------------------------------------
What!?!? No Squats!?
Nooooooooooooooooo!
This is spam. Don't do it. This is a verbal warning.
MODERATOR
---------------------------------------------------------------
This is a Verbal Warning.
If you break our rules again, you will be issued with a Warning and Warning Points.
Please be aware if you are issued with Warning Points and they add up to or exceed 25 points, you will be banned from XXXXXXXXX.
In order to avoid this, please obey XXXXXXXXX's Forum Rules.
This message was generated automatically and no reply is required.
However, if you think you do not deserve this Verbal Warning, please start a thread in the Helpdesk subforum."
Ok, I've tried to hide which forum this is because I am absolutely not trying to start a flame fest about another forum.
My only point was to show that sometimes (at least at other sites) the moderators can be a little heavy handed. Honestly, does what I posted seem deserving of a warning? It kind of makes me sad to think that we can't post something harmless and humorous lest we get hit with "Warning Points."
If I absolutely need to, I'll post the link in my warning e-mail, but I really don't want to turn this into a "bash the other forum" thread.
