I had quite a surprise waiting for me when i got home, there was a large parcel on my desk, in which was the Island of Blood, which i didn't expect to come till saturday. I checked the GW website and it still says release on 4th of September. Is this normal with pre-ordering from GW (i don't think i've actually pre-ordered anything before XD) or is this different?

My Shadowsword arrived about 4 days before the release. So I guess it happens sometime.

I ordered mine from an Ebay retailer. Saved about $30 all together when shipping was figured. He won't be shipping till the fourth though, so I'll have to wait a bit longer.

That's the only reason I preorder off GW on some lines, as it can come a few days early. (Heck, the Mumak came two weeks early, but that's uncommon.)

And aye, mine arrived this morning, managed to put the Rat Ogres and the Master Moulder together before I left for work. (where I am now.)

They send it expecting delays so therefore send slightly early.

Not all companies do though, some will only send on day of release so you get it a couple of days later. If you wanted it earlier you'd have to go out and buy it yourself!

If I am not in my room, is it still my room?

Cool. Sounds like this thing isn't uncommon.

I've managed to put most of the HE models together (and couldn't resist assembling a few skaven even though i'll be selling/swapping them) and even manged to spray paint the sea guard

IoB landed in stores last week at some locations. Comically GW sticks by the "not on the shelves" until the exact day as ordered. I always thought it would be nice of GW that if you pre-order to a store and it comes in early to have the store provide the item early as a thank you for the business.

Hey, but what do I know, i'm just a consumer I don't mind picking up my copy saturday, i have to pick up a rhino anyway.

I got mine. This is the first starter box I got since 2nd edition 40k.. so I dunno if this is how it goes now, but, maybe I'm blind but I can't find any kinda stats/weapons/etc for the models. Are you supposed to have the army books for each army in order to play? what if you're some new kid just starting out and this is all you have? it says to use the reference section but that's not much of a help, it just lists stats but no point costs or anything.

or am I missing something?

IMO it should have also come with a little army card kinda thing for each army saying what the units are equipped with, with the same rules from the army book but just for the models in the box.

I don't play by anyone's rules, not even my own.

Bah! just noticed mine also didn't come with any cavalry bases, and I don't have any extras :( I have dozes of almost every other size, just none for horses. Fooey!

I just got a ton of sets in yesyerday - but same - i didn't have cavalry bases either which is annoying.

Glad I have some perosnally, but still.

I'd say we should hitup gw and see what goodies they give us.

Behind you

Pre-ordered and Advance ordered it. I was the first non GW-staffer to open IOB down in perth.

10 minutes past nine it was opened and by 2.30pm it was fully assembled ready for painting.

Five hours of assembly...with roughly 30 minutes for breaks. I had all bases including the flying base for griffin and Cav bases for the plague mortar and WFT and reavers.

I actually had about 4 or 5 spare bases of both sorts at the end it it.

The 7th edition set came with the same thing as did the 40K Black Reach one. I think the idea is that you just put all your models on the table and play so you can learn the rules.

I popped down to my local GW today as they were doing a draw to win a free battalion (I think they were doing it all round the UK). Didn't win anything but the shop was packed and lots of people were buying sets and swapping (High Elves were popular). I didn't get a set as I'm waiting to see what the new High Elf models are like next month, plus I seem to be loosing interesting in WFB (but I think this is because I'm still stuck in a 7th edition mindset - I like 8th and it's fun to play but I just can't be bothered with it at the moment)

I don't want IoB but I'm hoping that the skaven will be available cheap soon, either on eBay or through the Dakka swap shop.

I went down to my FLGS too today, trying to swap my skaven. Unfortunatly by the time i got there everyone had already swapped theirs or was also looking to swap skaven. There were loads of people though. They were doing big games of IoB and skaven/HE painting compotitions. And they were doing this raffle thing and for each £10 you spent you got a ticket, or three tickets for every £25. You got double tickets for any WHFB and other extra ones for things like templates and the IoB.

The prizes were: a free character model which one of the staff would assemble and paint for you.

The whole games workshop store to yourself (and 5 friends) for a day.

Or 'the super mega awesome surprise prize of awesomness'

I left before the actual draw so i don't know if i won anything or what the super mega awesome prize of awesomness actually was.
