Hello everyone,
Quick info:
I based my Bretonnians on the time around the 1st Crusade and so far I've only got 4 knights based on the knights hospitaler that I've thought have turned out nicely. Here they are and yes I am trying to get my Bretonnians painted ASAP. Hope you like them please leave a comment/feel free to critize/leave feedback.
Thanks. Yes this is the same as a blog on Warseer.com I just felt it was easier to have a blog here as well so Dakka members can have their say without having to create a warseer profile ^^

Very cool, are those the older knights? Because a lot of the older Bretonnians have a heavy crusader look.

I've sold so many armies. :(

They look current to me

Although the really fancy heads doesnt ring crusaders as much as Teutonic Knights does but not bad. Those shields free hand?

When you say First Crusade you are not referring to the First Crusade 1096AD I take it?

Might be worth drilling out the trumpet bell
but otherwise look splendid!

Except the saxons never used horses and the normans did, remember Hastings?

They look good, but a couple points:
1. Bretonnians are wearing plate armour, which came late 13th century, so at least call it 3rd crusade (still not correct armour, but close enough for most)
2. Those are not hospitallier uniforms. That is the uniform of the kingdom of Jerusalem (or at least relatively close to it)

Not all Crusaders had horses as far as I am aware.
Apart from which, where does it say that the horse loving Saxons never had horses
Point is that late 11th Century armour is very different to those very nice models in the OP

end of pedantry.

Yes there are scattered theories on the exact composition but I was mainly talking about the "Style" of armor they had, not necessarily the tactics

Sorry for being a little off topic

Thanks for all the replies ^^
@kenshin, yes I painted those shields freehand and tbh its not that hard even though I'd like to take as much credit as I possibly can
@everyone else, yeh I really failed on making them look historically correct but I really just liked the heraldry in Kingdom of Heavan where the knights hospitaler were wearing blue and gold with a 'dubbed cross' if that's what it's called.

Ok been a bit slow on the project since I've been playing a lot more games recently (just had an epic 3 hour 2250 pt game against Skaven on thursday). I managed to paint my Prophetess even though her base isn't finished.

And my converted Questing Knights. They took a bit of work since I had to remove the left arm on the Bretonnian knight's torso in order to fit both Greatsword arms.

Cheers, please leave comments!
Edit: Oh yeah you might notice that all my units are slightly elevated, that's because all their bases have been magnetized
