Today, we had an RTT with Peter (Nids), Benny (Nids), Heiko (Eldar), George (Tau), Markus (Daemons), Toby (Marines), and me (BA DoA).

My list (all Marines with jump packs):
2x Librarian w/ shield, lance
2x Honor Guard w/ meltas
2x Priest
3x 10 Assault Marines w/ pf, 2 meltas
3x 5 Vanguard w/ pf

First game vs. Eldar.

Yriel
Autarch w/ warp gen
8 Scorpions
2x 10 Avengers in Serpents
10 Guardian Defenders plus Warlock
3x8 Warp Spiders
2x Wraithlord w/ eml, sword
3 Warwalkers w/ scatterlasers
Spearhead, 5 mission objectives.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
This was a pic from turn 3. The enemy was concentrated in his home zone with the WLs in front and the Serpents and Guardians behind. The Scorpions and WWs were outflanking; Scorpions behind the white building accompanied by Yriel. All Spiders were deep striking incl. one Autarch.

My alpha strike was rather successful. Vanguard killed the Guardians and Marines took out one Serpent with the Avengers far back in the home zone. Marines and Honor Guard popped the Warwalkers after two rounds of shooting.

Next time Eldar lost the 2nd Serpent and the passengers (Avengers) after popping it by meltas (rear shots).

At the end, the enemy had the two WLs, Yriel, and the Scorpions left. My army was largely intact.

I occupied 3 mission objectives, enemy none.

Second game vs. Daemons:

Slaanesh GD
Epidemius
2 large Daemonette packs
3 large Horror packs
3 Horrors w/ flamers
1 large Plague Bearer pack

Pitched battle, occupying quarters (counted via VPs).

I had to start the game. It did work quite well but it ended after 4 turns.
My units got stuck into cc vs. the troop units of the enemy.
By the way, Markus saved 10 wounds by the Horrors. Almost impossible.
Too bad for me since I was also counting on the 5th turn.
So I lost by 1 to 2.

Next time I'll use the rerolls for reserves to defer the arrival of the units.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Third game vs. Marines (army pic only, no pic from battle).

Librarian w/ terminator armor
5 Termies w/ 3 th/ss, 2 lc's
2x 10 Tactical Marines w/ lc, pg, pf, Rhino
2 Vindicators
1 Predator w/ autocannon, lascannons
5 Scouts
1 LS Storm
2 Tornados
Ironclad w/ Pod

Dawn of War, Kill points.

Marines started the game leaving his army in reserve up to the Ironclad which appeared in the centre.
In turn 2 most of his units were showing up.
The steel coffins were lined up, Tornados boosted and the other tanks launched smoke.

My two Honor Guard units arrived taking out one Tornado, Vanguard charged Vindicator with the result that it couldn't shoot next turn. This was vital for me since the other Vindator was still missing.
Next turn, most of my units appeared. I popped one Rhino and the 2nd Tornado. A melee began in his backfield with the Tactical and 2 of my Vanguard units.
Then my third Vanguard unit popped the Predator, Honor Guard destroyed the Vindicator and 2 (full) Tacticals killed the Ironclad and the Pod.
The only tough unit in his army were the Termies killing 2 Vanguard unit and 1 Assault squad. I was a bit unhappy with this melee as one Scout and one Marine from one Tactical were left. His 2nd Tactical was in the Rhino and left untouched.

The game ended after 5 turns with 7:6 KPs for me. Tough game!

Final standing: Nids, DoA BA (me), Eldar, Daemons, Marines, Nids, Tau.

Summary: I was quite happy with the performance of the DoA army. I played it first time ever. It leaves some tactical flexibility even against fast or mech armies.

I have to consider this a big win for your army and congratulating you for running a solid DoA list. My only nitpicking is you cannot reroll a sucessful reserve roll - if a BA jump unit comes in that's the way it is - you cannot reroll the dice in an attempt to delay their arrival. By the way I think you did very well in the 3rd round.

Well, in this RTT, I didn't roll successful reserve rolls as I thought it would be a bit cheesy.
In fact, I was really satisfied with the performance of the army.
In game 1 (Eldar) and 3 (mech SM) I had good control over the battle field.

Nice report!

One note though: DoA does not give you the option to reroll your successful reserve rolls, you may only reroll only failed ones. You can choose not to reroll the failed ones though, which can help keep your units off the table.

How many points was this at? Looks like 1850 but I didn't add anything up. Have you considered swapping to plasma guns on one of your Honor Guard units? They won't give up much anti-tank fire against most things (as you can land on the weaker side/rear armor and you have a lot of str7 shooting at that weaker armor value) and will be a lot better for dragging down MCs and forcing saves on annoying units like those Terminators in game 3.

It's 2k, no way to get the things in the lists he was posting unless it was 2k.

In fact, it was 2k.

I wasn't considering plasma guns. I know they might help vs. tougher creatures.
For the very same reason, I'll consider next time a tougher unit like Assault Termies with th/ss
instead of a 2nd Librarian and Honor Guard.

How do you think the list would do against a hordy army ?

Well, it can do well vs hordes, too.
But I'd give the Honor Guard two flamers and two meltas and
take a squad of Assault Termies to counter MCs or Nob Bikerz.
