I'm planning on creating a hive fleet based around the specific Tyranid organisms that consume biomass. With the creatures looking passive yet sinister. Not sure how successful that will be, but hey ho.
Anyway, here is what I have so far.
These guys are intended to be Zoanthrope proxies, however they could also be Venomthropes. Still very much WIP, but here they are. A very simple conversion that looks very alien imho. I see these guys as the hive "tasters", finding the best locations on a world to begin processing biomass/laying down digestion pools/generally communicating with the hive ships.
More to come... soonish...

Looking good. Is this for 28mm/40k scale? If so, would love to see it beside something else for reference. What size base is that?

It's on a 40mm base, its basically just these chaps reversed and with a spore mine for a head.

That's a large mycetic spore or somesuch from forgeworld, with a smaller spore mine as a head. It's a nice conversion actually, and it really does look creepy. I'd say count it as a venomthrope!

That really is excellent. A great idea - really original. Those spore mines really do make great heads!
Do you have any other plans? I assume some tendril-head ymargls will be in the list perhaps? Is everything going to be tentacly? I would love to see that if it was...

Yeah I'm going to try and have as many tentacled creatures as possible. The next thing is going to be a tyrannofex, I'm going to try and go for the tentacle look on that once the various kits i've ordered arrive. Ymgarls would fit in really well, i'll look into that.

Im might steal this idea actually. Technically I finished my tyranid army, but, in all honesty, 16 squids for a trio of zoanthrope/venomthropes is just too good to pass up!

Exactly my thinking good sir.

That was the only Torchwood episode I ever saw, well part of it anyway. Perhaps I have been subconsciously recreating them.
Right, while my next stage is in transit, I present this abomination.
Based on the mine cart from Abe's Exoddus, with some General Grievous war bike thing thrown in to boot. Mutant miners gone awry, kind of like 'girls gone wild' for 40k.
Still very much WIP, as you can see...
