I am new to the game and i'm wondering what benefits do models recieve for being above other models(like being on the third story of a building vs guys on the ground) like are they able to attack and not being able to be targeted/attacked or do they get no benifits at all.

Welcome to dak dak! For questions like these try the tactics section. One thing that comes to mind though is if they are up on a buildings 3rd story they gain alot better LOS which comes in handy for those longer ranged weapons plus they get a cover save as long as your opponent cant see half of your squad.
