So, I'm developing a little wargame called Blackwater Gulch. It's an old west skirmish game. I picked up about 30 models from Black Scorpion Miniatures Tombstone line, since they were the best looking and the right size. I'll be using these minis and the others when I get em done for photos and stuff in the rulebook. And I'll be using these to play with also

Pics suck as usual. Just don't have good lighting, but I'll be setting up a photo area for the "official" pics I'll be taking. I do plan to get my own minis sculpted for the game later, but I'm using the Black Scorpion models for now just so I can get started.

Here's my first 2 gangs, 5 outlaws (with black coats or hats) and 5 Lawmen

Wadaya think?

Strange that this is in News. If its for your upcoming game rules, then why not have that in your title?

Mighty fine lookin' minis.

Are you doing similar for your own range?

Yes actually. They'll be very similar in size but maybe a tad bulkier. We're shooting for very close to GW's kind of heroic proportions. That's why I'm starting with the Black Scorpion minis, they're the closest match for the size and look I'm after.

The initial release will be just 3 products when we first start. There will be an outlaw leader model and a lawmen leader model (like a sheriff), and a larger pack of 4 henchmen.

The leader models will be armless and come with a small arms sprue so you can equip them however you like.

The henchmen will have separate legs in one piece, body & head in another, and even more arm bitz. So you can mix and match everything to make some unique looking members for your gangs.

Then after those are released we'll be releasing a couple new models a month to slowly expand the line. Since I'm doing this on a half a shoestring budget, I'll only be able to afford to get a couple models done at a time, at first anyway

There will also be several factions, Outlaws and Lawmen are just the first two, since they're more "iconic" for the theme. There will also be sneaky Indian scalpers, hillbillies that throw flaming bottles of moonshine at people, spooky voodoo swampfolk, mexican desperados and more The game is based on the wild west but it's all fictional stuff pulling more from folklore and stories and movies than "real" history. But it will be close enough that the history buffs should still enjoy it too.

Since getting my Deadwood on, I'm really jonesing this kind of a game.

Count me in as interested.

Great Idea, great concept.

Don't forget to have a couple of gunslinging saloongirls, in there.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.
