Yo.

So like a lot of chaos players recently, I wanted to use my beloved khorne models but silly GW ruined the chaos codex a while ago, so are stuck using one of the later ones to count as.

Decided that I'd stick with post-heresy world eaters because I do love the forgeworld upgrade sets.

Most of the army is actually painted now to a decent standard, but this blog will detail finishing it off and really adding detail. Sorry if the pictures suck, I'm using a phone camera right now.

How it stands right now:

Whole army shot of everything painted so far...there is 1 squad without the jump packs I want to use...haven't got enough of them yet and had a tournament recently so they are stuck with space marines ones until the next set arrive.

First set of termies.

2nd set of termies.

Front of counts as mephy/librarian.

Side shot. Not so sure on this model, more work to be done. May start over on it.

My counts as sanguiary priests.

1st 1/2 of assault marine squad 1.

2nd 1/2 of assault marine squad 1.

Complete shot.

So more to come..including shots of land raiders, 2nd + 3rd assault marine squads.

Whats next to do? Well I want to start doing some proper highlights so the army can pop a bit more, also need alot of work on the metal. My mephy/libby model just doesnt seem right so I need to work on that, ideas appreciated.

Comments and critism welcome please!

PS Sorry for the mess in the room, and the 'unprofessionalism' of the pictures..this is my uni accomodation so it can't be expected to be kept tidy can it?! :-). As mentioned before, better pictures to come soon.

I love it! As a fellow chaos conversion nut, this thread gives me alot of inspiration for my own work.

What backpacks did you use on those counts as sanguinary priests?

I used possessed bits for most of the priests bar the banners.

Jump packs are from maxmini.eu

Killer looking! Blood for the Blood God!

I am now accepting commissions for any hobby project! I've been in the hobby since '92. Specializing in traditional brush methods, creating a gritty dark aesthetic. From single character models to entire armies. From individual terrain pieces to entire table tops. From tabletop level to masterclass level painting. From purchasing and assembly to leveling up your assembled armies paint job. If it has to do with the hobby I can do it! Hit me up and let's chat about your project!

What are GW tourney Rules? would they allow a GW model with other company bits on?

Very nice looking army. I'm typically not a fan of counts as (mainly b/c it's somebody using blue Marines as BA/SW and so forth), but your army has a LOT of character and really is a joy to look at. One can tell there's a lot of thought and creativity put into this army. Thanks for sharing.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Those marines have certainly seen some blood! My first impression when I saw the models was that they looked battle worn and had a weathered look to them, which is good. I really like the jujmp packs and the conversion of your astorath...nice work!

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4

As far as tourney mods are concerned they're "scratch built"

Great conversions, it's never occurred to me to use Blood Angels as World Eaters, good call!

I don't play in any GW tournaments anymore, only Indy events really. My local store has no problem with them at all.

Right now the models are fairly dulled down due to the amount of heavy washes used on them, to give the gritty/dirty look, though I'll be adding a few highlights to the red when I get round to it-having to avoid it looking like real blood angels is tough though.

I want to make 5 scouts at 1 point too.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I will be doing some freehand on land raiders and assault marines, especially the packs-probably using white because it is a high contrast to the dullish red.

Did a bit more work on the land raiders and characters, painted another Librarian-still a long way to go on them.

Random picture from one of the shields I forgot to upload.

More to come soon!

i'd say from a fluff perspective that you should load up on Death Company or Astorath to increase the furiousness of any charges! looks good.

A very nicely done force, one of the better World Eaters I've seen.

I have one question though: how do you achieve those really intense blood effects? I love the slick look and intense red, and the translucentness. Can you tell me how to get a similar effect? Would be very grateful!

I think maybe whiter on your BA character would make it look more chaosy??

WOW. All of this is awesome. I like the jumppacks. You painted the red in a very effective way, it looks great. I an't find any negative points here, just good ones. Blood splatters look good also. Big up!

CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT!

Wow, just wow....that is an excellent conversion you have there. I especially like the jump packs and the bloody gore all over the models, it's like they swim in the stuff! (which, knowing khornites, wouldn't surprise me)

Keep up the good work!

Going to echo the above... jump packs actually look like they could get off the ground, and the feel of the army is just awesome. I do think some highlights would help brighten things up a bit, as it is somewhat dull.

That blue on the shields (I'm assuming it's the world being eaten ) makes for a fantastic relief for the eye after all that red and gold. Looks excellent and I'd like to see that worked into some of the other models if possible!

I used Tamiya clear Red, its really brilliant stuff.

RiTides:

Thanks for the comments, I agree whole heartily, I'm not sure how bright of an orange I want to use yet.

Hopefully the white symbols will help, I'll try and incorporate more greens + blues where possible.

More pics, finished the 3rd Land Raider (bar the multimelta) and the display board which I made because of boredom and there was a cheap board I saw in town last week. Also redid some of the highlights, and the blood.

This is my 1750 army I used in a recent tournament.

Next thing to work on will be practising some white freehand, to really break up the red after talking to a few really good painters I know personally.

I also want to add some scouts-anyone have any ideas how to do them?
