Hey all my name is Patrick,
I have been wanting to get into this great hobby for some time now and I finally have the time to do so! Im going to be making a Veteran catachan army and use the callsigns from all the guys on my team to the Vet Sgts. I also plan on giving them all green berets on all the models. Its a daunting task but it should be alot of fun. Im also trying my hand at converting some Space Marine landspeeders in buggies as count as sentinels, equiping them with the IG weapons and magnetizing them so that they wont be all Space Marinesque. Your help and suggestions are greatly appreciated on such a project.
Also I have a question, do any of you know the best way to make a rear axle on a landspeeder for the rear wheel? I was thinking possibly a Whirlwind missile rack but Im open to suggestions.
Anyways I hope you all have a great holiday season! Im going to go lurk some more on here!

Welcome to dakka.
Wheels on a landspeeder?
Surely it would be cheaper and easier to just buy some sentinels and bling them out to look unique?
Best of luck to you though.

Welcome to the hobby and the forums. I've seen that landspeeder buggy conversion and it totally would capture the aesthetic you're going for--the one I saw was pretty bare underneath. My guess is plasticard tubing. Might want to ask in the modeling forum.

Welcome aboard. Do consider posting the Landspeeder conversion as a P&M question, or even a blog.

Always nice to see another active duty guy around here. Welcome!
BTW, here is a pic from the Dakka gallery of a buggy conversion that a guy did:
You might be able to get in touch with him and ask him how he did it.

Thanks all! That buggie picture is exactly what Im going for. The camo pattern will be similar to the Jurassic Park suv. The only difference is that Im planning on using the Cadian sentinel rocket pod on one of the side panels and maybe put a turrent on the top with a autocannon. I plan on putting a roll cage for the gunner like on the Army's scouts. Im going for a SF esque group of veterans. I will definitely post up my progress in the P&M area.
Once I start it and get pictures Ill post it up. Im VERY interested in your input and suggestions for converting these guys. For you other service members you'll find this funny. I told some of my squadmates about it and they suggest to the 1SG that they be used in sand tables. I laughed so hard. Now I need to make a Ranger Bat. 1SG after him, it was a direct order.
