Going to be back in the area for about a month ad I was wondering if anyone knows of any local gaming spots or tournaments?

Boldo's Armory in Rochester is fairly active in Rochester. Don't know much about the Buffalo area, sadly.

Ah I actually go to college in Brockport just outside of Rochester, I will have to check Boldo's out!

Sundays are usually when Boldo's is active--on Saturdays, check out Millennium Games.

And if you're still in town around Christmas, let me know--I'll be in Rochester around that time. Tuesdays are another good night for 40k at Boldo's--me and a few friends started "Newbie Night" a year or so ago, and it bloomed from there.

A couple of us play on Wed nights at my friends house. He's Grundz on here. Very laid back play though as a warning. Fun though. At least was fun till I started working second shift :(

Niagara Hobby on Fridays from 4:30 to close. They also give between a 20& 30% discount on GW items.

Jesters Cap (The owners a jack wad but meh) Tuesdays, people generaly get there around 6.

I also live in Buffalo but I go to RIT. I find Boldos to be a better place to game in general. Better players & more competitive, also gives at least 10% off GW prices.
Millenium has more players & more frequent events. I think there's an 1850 tournament tomorrow at 10:30 AM. Sadly many of the players in rochester are of "Da Boyz" and I take issue with how the run things, I tend to follow the ideas of Stelek at yesthetruthhurts.com

I think Shas'O means Hobbytown USA on sheridan in amherst. Nice bunch of guys and some really good painters from who I met.

No I don't, they now play at Niagara or at least thats where I have played with them every time. Hobby town was getting too full of kids, the bad kind that never payed attention.

Also grundz, they've been at the corner of Walden Ave & Union Road for as long as I can remember.

What is they typical point games you guys tend to play there? Right now I'm running an 1850 list but I could easily tweak it up or down.

Whatever you have. I tend to bring a 1,500 1,850 & 2,000 list wherever I go but the games I played were at 2k.

To all players in the Buffalo Niagara Rochester area. The Buffalo Gamers society has requested a larger presence of Wargamers. Let us Oblige them. The Thursday night meetups at Buff State are perfect for getting in a game or two. They start at six and go later than I have been able to stay but at least 11 probably later if need be. If you are 18 or over join up on the web site. This is not a group linked specifically to any college but rather an organization made by gamers for gamers. Even if you can't get a game of warhammer for some reason you could do a lot of other tactical games and such.
Personally I plan to play 40k. You can arrange specific games with friends and such on the meetup site. This is a very laid back mature group of all ages ranging from college kids to old beardies like me.
They do not have wargames tables on site. Bring some terrain. Bring a drop cloth or a board or get together with a buddy who has one. There is plenty of room for a sawhorses and board setup. There are also 4'x 2' tables a floor down than can be pushed together to set up with a drop cloth or to mount boards on. Over the summer we will be in a different building on campus but I was informed that there are tables Identical to those on the second floor there.
Several local warhammer players are aware of this including several ex gw hobby consultants. We plan to rock som war and teach some new folks to play. Most of us also have necromunda/mordhiem and such. This is an amazing open venue where you do not have to buy anything to play. Its basicly a gaming store on a busy night without the kids and the need to buy stuff. Check out the above site and join up and introduce yourself. Check for the Warhammer Buffalo FB group the BGS group site on FB and the blogs by myself and the Cold Steel Bisons.
