What do people think is the best COD single player campaign?
I personally think its Call of Duty 4, i loved the single player on that, i think i even completed it twice...

I would say none of them are the 'best' for single player, there are many many games that have much more extensive single player campaigns, but COD is still fun to play on your own sometimes isn't it?

Black Ops. by far, had the best Single player IMO.

WAW was really good and had gore physics like COD should, but it was too short. COD 4 was rather boring but a bit longer. I'd probably say WAW though, because I love the graphics style a lot more than 4 and MW2.

Kabal of the Void Dominator - now with more purple!

I thought the storyline in Black Ops was awful and drawn out, then ending even less interesting. Personally, I have to say that COD4 had the best storyline of them all.

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against the inevitable. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the darkness comes for you.

I thought BO was pretty bad. It had Inception complex. In the process of trying to create a great story with some though put into it, it created a story to stupid to be believed. And the ending references concerning a certain someone had absolutely nothing to do with the story line at all. EDIT: Not to mention that save for CoD1, BO is probably the most blatant with the films it rips off.

I thought COD2 had one of the best campaigns of any game I've ever played. MW1 and 2 played out like poorly written Tom Clancy novels, and those aren't well written to begin with.

I feel that Big Red One had the best, man that was an awesome game. Ever since I played it nothing has come close to beating it.

The original CoD where you played great moments as Americans, British, and Russian soldiers.

I'm torn between CoD 2 and Modern Warfare (1) myself.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

I liked MW's story, loved Black Ops' story. I just found more levels fun in BO than in MW.

Rebirth Island was a fun level, piloting a chopper was fun, the russian prison camp was fun.

Charlie Don't Surf was fun and so was the last level.

I think it has something to do with having other characters around you in the game. It makes it more exciting in my opinion.

Yah, call of duty 2 was my favorite. I learned more in its training level about playing an FPS then in any other tutorial.

I don't know about that.

Spoiler:
The Reznov is a lie. That and Mason yelling "I AM VICTOR REZNOV AND...THIS...IS... SPARTA!"
were all kind of fun to watch.

Spoiler:
Also note that when you play Rebirth Island as Mason you see a dead marine in the animal testing area, and when you play as Hudson the dead marine is missing.

Personally though, I like the zombie mode story more than any other simply because most of the details aren't set in stone.

What films does it rip off?

The Last Castle
Forest Gump (Only for a few seconds)
Platoon
The entire story line is basically the Manchurian Candidate

This isn't new. Every CoD has blatantly 'borrowed' from various films. CoD1 and BO I think are the most obvious. The Forest Gump moment kind of just surprised me. I think that their rip of the Last Castle at the prison level is probably the most obvious CoD has been since CoD1 and the first mission of the Russian campaign.
