We did alright. Not stellar, but the Cotton Bowl is nothing to be sad about. You're a TU fan?

I'd love to get a more competitive atmosphere down in aggieland. The single store that we have in College Station is less than friendly to gamers. The owner doesn't want to host any events and requires that people pay to play there, or buy a lot of stuff from the store. Expecting support is one thing, requiring it is something else. So we are just a group of people that play in a random classroom. I know some of us are talking about doing the BoLScon thing this coming summer. I'd like to do adepticon, but that might have to wait a year. We could certainly try to get a few things going between our two clubs.

I don't have a favorite Texas team, I'm a fair weather Texas, like this year I was like "Go TCU" but as far as NCAA goes, I'm a Florida Gators fan. (Feel free to hate.)

I'm in the South Texas area near Corpus Christi, feel free to drop a PM

Just noticed this thread. Glad to hear some kind of war gaming is going on in B/CS. I'll have to keep an eye on it. A&M is too far away from NW Harris County for regular games, but not so far away for tournaments and I always enjoy visiting Aggieland. Shame to hear about the CLGS, and if it’s the one I am thinking of, it would be a stretch to call it a game store, but instead more of a comic store with a crappy layout that during my time in B/CS (early 90's) I avoided for the most part because it was so inferior to what I was accustomed to in the Houston area. I would just make the once monthly trek to Houston on the weekend to pick up stuff.

Damn shame what happened to the gaming scene from what I could gather from your remarks. I'm an Old Ag(TM), class of '97, and I could remember three such stores in the B/CS area: the one close to Purple Cactus Comics, Purple Cactus itself (with its token carrying of stuff), and Orion Ltd. Which LGS was this that suddenly got all Comrade Stalin toward events in the store?

I take it both Nova and Cepheid Variable are no longer around, or if they are, in no form recognizable to me?

We are here and trying to make the best with what we are given. Drove to Austin today to play some, seems that is how it is going to be during the summer.

We had a little in house tourney at the end of this semester. A lot of the people in the club are still new to the hobby, and we wanted to test the waters with how an event would go over. I think there is certainly some considerations being make for the fall.

I have been in b/cs for almost a year. I have no idea about any of those mentioned stores. The only store that we have left is Lytle's. And I just can't bring myself to go in there.

We have had a few little club events. There isn't a super large player base in B/CS so if you want some serious competition you'll have to drive to Austin.

Right now, we are running an escalation type event where we are increasing the points by 500 every month. We are playing 500 on Sunday. You should come by.

Your 500 points need to be fully painted.

=)

We are always considering/talking about it. You should stop by one of the meetings to talk to some of the other people. I would be willing to bet there are people who would come out and at least play.
