I'm only now experiencing the goodness that is Mass Effect 1 and Fable 1

...what are some games you folks played a little later than most or long after their release?

Morrowind I played it the year before Oblivion came out.

I missed so many good PC games (because my computer was utter trash until about a year ago) that I don't even care to count. What was even more depressing was that I even tried to play some games that were released after 2000 on a GeForce 2 or an onboard laptop videocard. Those were some bad times...

I sold most of my miniatures, and am currently working on bringing my own vision of the Four Colors of Chaos to fruition

I hear ya... there was tons of PC games I passed on because they couldn't play on what I had... laptop videocards make me cry sometimes... especially during playing Rome: Total War when it causes the horses of my cavalry not to show.

Its only recently after some upgrades that I've bothered installing a bunch of games now.... playing them is another thing though.

I just finished Fallout 3 a couple of weeks ago, plus I have a copy of Super Paper Mario that I have yet to start. Those are probably my worst offenders at the moment!

I didn't get into RPGs until like 2004 or 2005 I think so I came to Morrowind, NWN, Kotor, and all those games late.

Last night I purchased the 'Dishwasher' on XBoxLive. Pretty fun game. Haven't totally figured it out yet... there are a couple enemy types that are kicking my buttocks. Check it out. I think there is a demo available.

I finished Mass Effect and started in on Dragon Age... part of me wishes I didn't go all out with the Ultimate Edition... I'm having a hard time adjusting to the game. It could just be that I'm so accustomed to Mass Effect still.

I just started cragon age origins and had a hard time adjusting to the game as well. It still has a few things that confuse the hell out of me though.

The only thing that confused me about Dragon Age is how they think making Elves second class citizens is new and exciting. Fail reimagining is fail.

And who came up with the Darkspawn? Most generic enimies ever ftw?

I've tried three intro stories so far... elf rogue, dwarf warrior, and human mage. I brought all of them at least to ostagar... I'm still undecided as to what i want to play... its leaning more towards the the melee-ish guys (rogue or warrior).

re: topic

I've purchased GTA: San Andreas on steam... i think that game is old enough to run on my laptop.

Probably the Half-Life/Half-Life 2 series. I played the first parts of the first one a few years ago, then finally got Half-Life 2 + Episodes One and Two with the Orange Box. Maybe a year after that I went back and bought the Half-Life pack (Half-Life plus its two spinoff/expansions).

Other than that, I'd say Borderlands, which I just now bought during the Steam sale.
