I have been getting pointers about painting from Dakka as well as 2 of my friends who do great jobs on their models. This is not the best model any one of you will see, however it is currently my best model. I still need to do something more with the blades I am just unsure of the way to take them further at the moment. I will have to experiment on some other models, maybe the rest of the squad. So I guess I will say this model is 90% done. For a comparison of how my painting has come along (for those of you that are interested) I have pictures of my first attempt in my orks gallery. Please feel free to add constructive criticism, I would like to improve basing for instance.
I may need to get better pictures, his pants look washed out due to the flash. I know there is half a dozen tutorials on here that show how to make a light box......

Just out of curiosity, where is his back pack?
Also, i painted my blades with boltgun metal then washed twice with badab black, and once with devlan mud. Then i drybrushed red gore on the edge, then drybrushed some blood red close to that aswell

Thanks folks I appreciate the kind words. I am thinking of practicing NMM (non metalic metal) before I try it on the knives. As forhis backpack, I did not model it either time on him. I figured it is a good sculpt, and as cool as the pack is I just felt it didn't need it. Maybe I will have a grot carrying it just for fun on another base.
