Hello! Here's my first battle report for the Platinum Devil 2 tournament!

Unfortunately due to bad weather, I had to forfeit a few games in order to check with taxi, bus and train services to get home, but managed to get a good few games in between.

Death Korps 202nd Engineers Corps.

Death Korps Escalation List:

495pts:
HQ: Lord Commissar w/Carapace + P.weapon : 90pts
Troops: Engineers x5 w/ Mole.Launcher + GasGrens + Democharge : 105pts
Troops: Engineers x5 w/ Mole.Launcher + GasGrens + Democharge : 105pts
Troops: Hades Breaching Drill : 50pts
Fast Attack: Hellhound w/Multimelta : 145pts

1005pts:
Heavy Support: Leman Russ VQ w/Co-axial StormBolter + Lascannon: 180pts
Heavy Support: Leman Russ w/ Lascannon : 165pts
Heavy Support: Leman Russ w/ Lascannon : 165pts

1245pts:
Elites: Grenadiers w/Flamerx2 :100pts
Troops: Engineers x9 w/GasGrens + Democharge :140pts

Battle 1: Combat Patrol VS Killkrazy's Tyranid Swarm!

The Board:

Hive Fleet Kielbasa:

Tyranid Warrior Prime with Twin Boneswords and Adrenal Glands
Two Hive Guard (medium anti-tank)
14 Termagants with Fleshborers
Tervigon with Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs, Regeneration and Catalyst power

Turn 1 starts with me taking first turn, and only having a hellhound deployed. I move it out of line of sight. The Tyranids deployed two Hive Guard on the hill and the Tervigon and the termagants near the foot of the hill. Turn 1 sees 15 extra termagants spawning! Although this is marred by the fact a double was rolled and he ran out of eggs.

Tyranid forces get in position.

Tyranid Warrior Prime stalks the flank of the main Tyranid swarm.

Turn 2 sees the arrival of my Hades Breaching Drill! I unfortunately scatter off his termagant and Tervigon onto nothingness. I fire my meltablaster and it scatters onto two termagants, frying them instantly!
The Tervigon however, makes short work of the drill and rips it asunder. The Hive Guard move into position and take pot shots at the Hellhound, failing to do much to it.

Hades Breaching Drill arrives to meet the Tervigon.

Turn 3 sees the arrival of my engineers! They throw their demolition charges (which scatter horribly) and blast their shotguns at the tervigon. One demolition charge manages to clip the Tervigon and a few termagants, causing a wound to the beast and vaporizing several termagants. The shotguns also get lucky and inflict a further two unsaved wounds on the Tervigon. The engineers, led by their valient commissar then charge the Tervigon.

The Engineers emerge to engage the Tyranids.

Cor, look at the size of em...

The Engineers charge, For the Emperor!

The combat results go poorly for me, the Tervigon nearly wipes one squad, however, my engineers amazingly put another two unsaved wounds ith gas grenades on the Tervigon, reducing it to it's last wound!

The Termagants don't quite make it to the combat, but the engineers are torn asunder regardless.

The Tyranids Warrior Prime turns around and aids it's Tervigon in battle. The Tervigon fails to regenerate any wounds (putting it dangerously close to death). The Tyranid Prime and Tervigon manage to defeat the remaining engineers, but the Commissar-General stands tall.

Turn 4 rolls around, and my hellhound engages the unengaged Termagants, frying two. Amazingly in the combat, the Commissar-General makes all 3 of his invulnerable saves, but fails to deliver the Coup-de-grace to the Tervigon.

The Hellhound stalks forward cautiously.

The termagants charge into combat, overwhelming the brave Commissar, leaving me with only the hellhound, which is subsequently destroyed by the trigger happy Hive Guard sitting on the hill. My first game ends with me getting tabled!

The last stand of Commissar-General Bryant.

RESULT: Major Defeat!

Battle 2: Annhilation VS notprop's Imperial Guard

The Board:

notprop's Imperial Guard
Chimera w/Platoon Command Squad (4x Melta)
Griffon
Griffon
Leman Russ Battle Tank
Infantry Blob w/Autocannon + Grenade Launchers
Infantry Blob w/Autocannon + Grenade Launchers
Platoon Command Squad (4x flamer)
Company Command Squad (1xLascannon + some other gear)

I manage to get first turn again, with me deploying my three Leman Russes in formation at the opposite side of the table and a Hellhound near the trenches. Turn 1 sees my Hellhound roll forward and toast half of the Company Command squad in the bunker! Rapid return fire however rips off the Inferno cannon and shakes the crew. My three Leman Russes manage to kill an amazing total of two guardsmen in trenches.

Leman Russes rumble in formation.

notprop's imperial guardsmen await further orders.

Aerial view of the imperial trench defence line.

Turn 2 sees the continued barrage of Battle Cannon and Vanquisher Cannon shells into the guardsmen. I do little damage. My hellhound cowers behind a rock. The arrival of the Hades Breaching Drill vaporizes a squad of guardsmen (it didn't scatter ) and the meltablaster manages to wreck the griffon. notprops Leman Russ and Griffon manage to arrive from reserve, the Leman Russ fires it's battlecannon and manages to shake one of my russes.

The guardsmen defending the trenches manage to do damage to the Hellhound.

The Hades Breaching Drill wrecks the Griffon.

Turn 3 comes around and sees the arrival of my engineers. One squad fires it's shotguns and demolitions charge at the surviving squad of guardsmen. The second squad fires it's mole launcher and democharge at the bunker containing the command squad, I fail to do any significant damage to the bunker. The first engineers then engage the surviving guardsmen in bloody close combat. The hellhound races forward and fires it's multimelta at the bunker, failing to penetrate it at close range. notprop's autocannon teams manage to disable the hellhound by ripping it's tracks off. The hellhound grinds to a halt, blocking the way to the trenches. The breaching drill fires it's meltacutter at the bunker, and also fails to destroy it.

No-mans land.

Turn 4 sees my engineers and commissar wiping the engaged squad. They consolidate behind the hellhound to take cover. The Breaching Drill fires at the bunker again, and fails to penetrate this time. The second engineer squad fires another shot at the bunker, and again fails to do any damage. notprop's command squad decides to take pot shots at my Leman Russes, but fails to do any damage. The autocannon blob in the trenches shoot at my hellhound again, but fail to destroy it. The Platoon Command Squad with meltaguns roll in with their Chimera, wiping out engineers squad two. My Leman Russes manage to destroy notprop's last griffon and rips off the battlecannon on the Leman Russ.

Turn 5, my remaining engineers and Commissar General hide behind the Hellhound, while my Leman Russes attempt to finish off notprop's Russ, they fail miserably. My Hades Breaching Drill that was lurking in the corner was destroyed by the Melta Command Squad. My engineers weren't skilled enough in the art of hiding and are gunned down by the autocannon teams in the trenches. The timer runs out, and I manage to score a win.

RESULT: Killpoints Snarky: 6
Killpoints notprop: 3

Win!

Unfortunately afterwards, I had to seek transportation to get home (the snow really came down), overall a great tournament, props to Ketara and Reds8n for organizing and for everyone else for bringing such awesome armies and terrain.

As a bonus (sorry for no more battles) Here are some pics from the event.

Apologies if some of these pictures are seen before, but Ben decided to steal these for his own dastardly use.

EDIT:// Fixed my embarassing picture failure.

That's a lot of broken images. About.. every single one, if I'm not mistaken. (Edit: Other than two pics of the board)

Might wanna sort that.

Sorted now Snarky.

That was a good set off battle reports, shame you had to leave.

I was really suprised that our battle ended so close, I really thought that I had suffered a mullering, shame I couldn't quite get that cowering Lord Commisar for a shock draw. Well played.

nice terrain! I know some are from S6 engineering- where are the trenches from?
and those death korps- wow, really well painted.
funny thing is, for my DKoK, I'm going to get 1 drill (like you), 1 general-commissar, the model drawing the sword (like you), 2 engineer squads w/gas grenades and demo charges (like you), was going to have the general-commissar join the engineers (like you), going to give him a power sword and carapace armour (like you), going to have 3 'russes (like you) and going to have a hellhound (like you)!
this is after my current project of heresy-era raven guard, but still- lookin' good!

Ol' Blighty

My krieg army consists of a centaur converted from a 'russ.
but after christmas I am getting a commissar, 10 engineers, hades breaching drill and a CCS.
after that I'm going cheap, buying some pig iron heads and cadians. I'm 14 and can't afford forking out £3.50 a model in a IG army. I mainly want a unit of 50 blob guard, backed up by a CCS in centaur rolling behind, a hellhound, a banewolf and 2 LRBT's flanking and firing. Then the drill emerges, hopefully killing a squad, popping out, demo'ing, shooting and assaulting another squad. I was thinking about giving the commissar a PF, but looking at the model, it's just too good with the power sword. I'm hoping to get up to about 1000 points, before moving on to more raven guard, then some more GK when the new codex is released.

Great reports -- nice work!

I could have sworn you had a Chimera in your 500 list -- it just shows how fallible memory is.

Having been on the receiving end of it, I confirm that the Drill followed by engineers with demos and stuff, puts out a lot of firepower.

I was lucky not to lose my Tervigon, which would have put a lot of hits on my Termagants, and put the game in doubt.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

If I lived in GB, I would have gone to this. Looks like a lot of fun, and those DKoK are stunning.

And now we have an idea of what Killkrazy looks like. He likes his sweaters...

How many people turned up?
'coz it looks like a lot of fun, and though I have a 0.00000000000000000000000000001% chance of winning a game, I might show up next year.

We had a good 10 people there at the day, and would have had a good deal more if it weren't for the holidays (with xmas and all so close).

Shame the weather ruined it, but I would encourage those interested to participate, I had a great time, (albeit the snow made cut our gaming time short!)

Next one is in May I think, Ketara organizes it so it might be good to drop him a PM about it.

I didn't attend the first PD, but this one had 10 gamers turn up. The entry fee this year was £6.00, but that was to fund the prizes this time (which I heard was a FW hector rex which I nearly sat on by accident )

Here's the link to the sign up and summary for this year's platinum devil.

And the summary for last years.

You might want to have a gander at some of the other batreps of platinum devil to see what kind of mission were played, and what kind of armies were brought along.

Nice rep, nice pics, and really f***ing nice army/armies/tables! The whole thing just looks astonashing. The game is fun as it is, but when the armies and the scenery fit like this, it must be even cooler. Good stuff...
Ps: Is that the model of Commissar Gaunt your enemy is using in the second battle? (second last pic of the battle, the guy with the cloak/cape and the sword)

Yep, that is Commissar Gaunt being used as a regular commissar. (who died to gas grenades may I add)
