Hey guys and gals aka the lost and the damned
Just getting my introduction out of the way, Im fairly new to 40k / fantasy having only actually gotten into games workshop's franchises about two years ago after befriending an avid war gamer. Initially dismissing it as a lame nerd hobby he got me to play the dawn of war games (coincidentally being my first taste of RTS / PC gaming), I think it was around the time I saw a space marine assault squad jump onto a horde of orks shouting " DESCEND UPON WINGS OF FLAME !" followed by general slicing and dicing and more hearty catchphrases like " WE STRIKE WITH THE WRATH OF THE RIGHTEOUS ! IN HIS NAME !". Suffice to say I instantly fell in love with the 40k universe, and spent the next two years reading every article I could find on sites like lexicanum / 40k fluff sites and in the actual game codex's themselves,. While I haven't yet taken the plunge into the wargaming side of things mainly due to the cost I adore the story and setting of both fantasy and 40k. Although Im not incredibly dedicated to anyone army or faction, all of them have relatively cool aspects but there all so morally vague I cant seem to find one that sticks 100% although my most favourite factions thus far are blood angels / dark angels / ulthwe' eldar / Chaos undivided space marines (particularly love the idea of chaos marines / renegades trying to destroy chaos from within / with itself I.e relictors and alpha legion to name but a few) and lastly the chaos space marines of the death shadows legion which to my infinite displeasure has very little background to it but just the idea of this elite terror cell with space marine powers that wreak havoc using stealth and guerilla tactics makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside  . In terms of my preferred chaos patrons Im tied between slaanesh and Tzeentch, Tzeentch because I have an endless thirst for knowledge and uncovering the truth and hey sorceress powers sweeten the deal a bit hehe and slaanesh cause of my own personal philosophies on life and death not to mention I love abstract art / music which stretches the senses which I imagine contributes a little. Oh and orks are cool cause of there optimistic outlook and cause after the battle between chaos and order is over the survivors still need someone to fight right ? I cant really imagine what other kind of job prospects space marines would hehehe.
So anyway flashback to present day and Im sitting awake at 2am thinking you know what would be great joining a 40k forum and randomly theory crafting / talking about the more niche elements of the world. So I promptly google 40k forum and after browsing through a selection of sites narrow down my options to dakka dakka and heresy online, after browsing a few articles on each site I decided that dakka dakka has the more awesome userbase BY FAR, and decided to sign up Ill attempt to start up some insightful and lively debate around the forums so hopefully ill be seeing you guys around  . To give a little info about myself outside of my interest in 40k Im into things like vintage anime, jazz / indy music, video games, impressionist art and depressing literature / graphic novels.

To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies. |

Look into dark eldar, they are a diferent kid of evil that is quite fun to play. I havent dipped my head into the new codex and models but i hear that they are pretty fun. You like assult marines? Well scouages are the equivilent of that except they have heavy weapons. Imagine a devestator squad with jump packs. Truly amazing
