Nagoya Hammer 2011 Information

Greetings to one and all, you are cordially invited to come and take part in the biggest Japanese gaming event of the year.

NagoyaHammer 2011 is a Warhammer 40,000 gaming event for veterans and new players alike. Come along to meet new people, settle old scores and enjoy 2 full days of playing one of the greatest tabletop wargames around.

The Schedule

10.00 - 12.30 - Game 1
12.30 - 13.30 - Lunch time

19.00 - 21.00 - Game 4
21.30 - Doors close.

Day 2 Wednesday 4th of May
09.00 - 09.30 - Doors open, new players register
09.30 - 12.00 - Game 5
12.00 - 13.00 - Lunch time
13.00 - 15.30 - Game 6
15.30 - 15.45 - Break time
15.45 - 18.15 - Game 7
18.15 - 21.00 - Free Play
21.00 - 21.30 - Pack up and doors close

Day 1 will be split into two areas for the first 3 games:
Area 1 will be 500 point tag team games. Each player is required to have a 500 point army chosen from any Codex or Imperial Armour book. The army must include at least 1 troops choice (a HQ is not compulsory). Players may use different units in every game and may even field different armies if they wish to.
Players in area 1 will be paired with players from outside their usual gaming areas where possible.
Painting is NOT compulsory.

Area 2 will be 1500 point tournament games. Each player is required to have a 1500 point army chosen from a Codex only. (No IA units or lists, though you may use Forge World models that appear in your Codex). Players may NOT change units between games and must provide opponents with a fully printed army list at the start of each game.
There will be no composition or painting score and models are NOT required to be painted.
HOWEVER, any painted model will receive the benefits of the Preferred Enemy USR against unpainted models. You have been warned!
Points will be scored as follows
0 - Loss
1 - Draw
3 - Win
In the event of a tie at the end of 3 games, Victory points will be used to determine the winner.
A prize will be given to the overall winner.

Game 4 is open to anyone who wishes to participate, regardless of which area they played in during the day.

On the second day, everyone will play the same games. The points values for the games will be 1500 points, but players are free to work as teams of 2 (2x 750 points) or 3 (3x 500 points) if they do not have the required points themselves. All armies must meet the minimum of 1 HQ and 2 Troops choices. Painting is not required.

Missions and game details will be posted at a later date.

Depending on attendance, there may be space for people to play other games (WFB, Warmachine etc). Players are free to organise games themselves, but this is primarily a 40k event and so those games will take priority. Due to the schedule, day 1 will be a better choice for non-40k games. Terrain will be provided, but please PM me for details.

To cover the costs of room hire and terrain, there will be a charge of 2500 yen for players wishing to join for 1 day, or 4500 yen for both days. Sadly there is no car parking available at the venue, so for those of you wanting to travel by car, please PM me if you need assistance in finding a reasonably priced parking lot.

I can't say for sure. I will try to make it though. First "big" tournament thing I've heard about in Japan area, and would definitely want to attend.

I've been talking with a few people at JBC GW about putting together a tournament, but meh, no luck sofar. Will be trying to hit up another gaming club soon.

The biggest barrier I see right now for Tokyo gamers is the travel fees... could end up to be a bit expensive. Shinkansen prices would be:

片道10,980円(乗車券6,090円 特別料金4,890円)

In addition to this hotel/etc. fees. Perhaps theres a "home-stay" thing that you/we can put together? (Lets talk about this in PM)

Additionally, most of the gamers I play with in Tokyo-area are Japanese, and don't really speak English. Would you perhaps have a Japanese site I can link them to? Thanks.

If this is a yearly tournament, you can count on my attendence next time. Though I may not be able to make this one, but I will certainly try my best. Happy someone decided to put a large tournament together.

I do plan on supporting this event and others of this kind in the future.

I will try and get some Japanese info posted...

if you do come make sure you register on the Nagoya hammer Forum and let tell them you heard it from me.. Ok

明けましておめでとうございます。

I suggest making another thread on your main forum (the nagoya-hammer forum) strictly for Japanese-speaking people interested in the tournament. (Japanese opener etc.)

One that is made, I will send out as many e-mails to the Tokyo-circle as possible.

EDIT:

Just looked at your site, and saw that you already have a Japanese introduction thread. I have just sent out info regarding this tournament to a few of my 40k buddies, and have in turn requested that they share the information with their bigger 40k circles. Hopefully can get something going.

I will also ask, just for confirmation. Is this going to be played in inches? or CM? I will assume CM, as thats how its played here in JP. However, if you're going to be playing inches, its gonna be tough to ask Japanese players to come, as most don't even own an inch-based tape measure.

we do play... But there are not very many of us and we are very un-organized at the moment.

Nagoya Hammer is the best we have it is still just one guy doing most of the work from time to time I give him a hand but somedays I really wish I live in the US or Europe or even Australia just so I could get in to the tournament seen.

Alot of people play. I've met most through my local GW store. I also know that alot of people play in "club-teams" etc.

Most Japanese-Japanese people start out via a GW Hobby store.

A few "internationalized"-Japanese, will have started somewhere else (I started in the UK while I was in Uni.)

Then theres the obvious foreigners/expats, that "bring" the hobby with them from where they came from.
