Subject: An idea for an aftermarket set - Arms

I had an idea when I was looking for Squats on ebay. One of the big annoyances is that so many models require the old plastic squat arms, but so few of said arms remain on the market. As such, collectors must either pay much much more, or sculpt/convert their own arms. How wonderful would it be if Chapterhouse or a Chapterhouselike company were to bring out a set of "space dwarf arms" accidentally suitable for use with old GW Squats, or "space trooper arms" that do the same for old plastic and metal Imperial Guard.
I don't know if there's any market for such things out there, but a man can dream, can't he? And if not, at least I got to vent my frustration.

It isn't a bad idea my only concern would be I am not sure how large the market is. It wouldn't cost you very much to get some sculpted and molds made though.

I doubt there is a big enough market for it but I agree that it would be nice if someone made them, I have way to many Squats without arms.

Oh, it's completely impossible, I just wish it wasn't. Most of what these aftermarket companies make is completely useless to me, like all those innumerable shoulderpads or Orc heads, and just once I'd love to get that feeling of "yes, this is exactly what I've been waiting for all these years".

I think you aren't giving places like Chapterhouse enough credit.
I think it's completely possible.

I can't see anyone making parts for ancient GW models. If anything, it's more likely that a company would do a whole Space Dorf range.

If they did some with separate arms and weapons, that'd help. I'm not interested in any of the ranges on the market right now, because none of them can easily be converted to be carrying 40k-legal weaponry.

I'm serious. If it's something you are in the immediate market for, contact Chapterhouse. They do side projects for individuals and, IIRC, some of their current product line started out as customer requests.
I'm certain that they could make a range of "Space Dwarf" arms. Worst case scenario, someone might need to provide them with a Space Dwarf model for measurement purposes (which, I'm sure, they'd return).

I could use some human scale arms, but I've noticed the same issue for Squats. I saw some Squat arms go for quite high prices on EBay about a week ago.

Bits sites are quite good - I've used Empire Militia arms on Squats, which scale well if you don't want obivously 'Cadian' arms.

Actually some of the cadian arms go very well on them also.

Not if you have some one-piece casts alongside them to compare. The hand size is wrong, even accounting for that sensibly, most Squats seem to wear gloves

Perhaps what you may want to do is ask someone here who can sculpt to sculpt you one with permission to allow for recasting: all they have to do is send you the greens and all rights to it.
If it's relatively simple, I suspect you could make hundreds of the arms you need for $60 worth of mats.

It's certainly an idea I'm entertaining for later, perhaps next year.

This is a great idea, I have many of both Squats and Imperial Army plastics and metals but probably arms for 60%.
Curiously I did find a complete squat arm sprue while tidying up last night all I need to do is learn how to recast.

Recasting the sprue is both questionably legal and rather superfluous (plus it'd be unreasonably hard to get clean casts off it. You could get a lot of mileage out of two sets of arms per size. One gripping a rifle-like object, and a pair of arms for sergeants and officers. Minimum amount of original sculpts. The rest one could make on a case-by-case basis, using resin casts as a base.
