Hey Dakka I wanted to let you know that my baby from way back in 4th ed, The Warmaster Cup is finally going to take place. I came up with the idea years ago and now that I am helping to run Capture and Control with Disdainful we decided to give it a go! If you guys do end up making it five rounds then you should expand the field to 32 gamers instead of 16. four rounds should be 16 invites and 3 rounds should equal 8 invites.

Its fine to have only 3 round events during the year because overall quality of attendance will get the right people into the mix (its not as important to find the 'true' winner of any given event), but when it comes down the 'championship' invite only tournament, you should definitely run it so you have one undisputed winner based on gameplay (for the best overall).

Also, while I know I should have been there, 'springing' that the first event to qualify is already finished is as crappy to anyone who didn't make it as it is a nice surprise to people who did attend.

It's like telling Football teams after the last pre-season game that 'surprise' but that last pre-season game actually counts towards the season! Yeah, its great for the teams who happened to win, but those that rested all their starters and lost have a right to be pissed.


Anyway, enough sour grapes on my part. I look forward to trying to earn a spot and thanks for taking the effort to run this. All my comments are strictly meant to be constructive criticism.

Thanks for the insight on the number of rounds to participant ratio it is truly appreciated. As Dis pointed out the finals system is not set in stone and as this is the inaugural season I would expect quite a bit to change for the finals not to mention next season.

I would suggest in light of your last comment, Overwatch, that you take advantage of the input and the huge amount of tournament-development commentary out there to get as many of those changes in before starting as possible ... the beauty of critical thinking and analysis is it takes relatively little time.

We need to at least get a better grasp of the number of players who will be up on the board before determining the exact make up of the playoffs. The day is set, the cup has been ordered, the event is happening and under way. I will probably have the details fixed in the next few days.
