Tabletop Gaming News is attempting to get an idea of how gamers are spending their time and money. This is an anonymous poll that asks what games you played and spent your gaming dollars on during December 2010. The data is available to the public to view and comment on and no tracking or marketing data is solicited. Its mostly just an informal survey to provide the hobby some information.

To that end we have two polls. The first asks what games you played and the second asks what games you spent your money on.

There's really nothing too out of the ordinary in those polls.

However, the poll's sampling population is a bit biased. TTGN is a site for those that enjoy miniatures and like to keep up to date with news that isn't GW or PP. Thus, there's going to be a disproportionately large amount of people playing/buying excellent games such as Malifaux, Infinity... or the stuff that Spartan Games spits out.

It's good to see that Blood Bowl is still being played even if it's not being bought. GW, are you paying attention?

Warmachine and 40K are the number one and two choices in both polls, though.

I'm slightly surprised that Warmachine is ahead of 40K. Perhaps that is because of the factor you mention of TTGN being a "not core GW" kind of site.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

TTGN is a news site for all aspects of tabletop wargaming and covers news of virtually every system/model manufacturer under the sun. It certainly isn't anti- any company or manufacturer. Quite the opposite really. GW and PP news pops up all the time, as Zac tends to derive much of his news from manufacturers' press releases, and of course PP and GW both produce their fair share of those! He doesn't indulge in rumour mongering though, which for many extreme fans is the only kind of news that counts .

Not surprising therefore that those who inhabit GW-only and PP-only ghettoes are ignorant of its existance.

The purpose of the poll is really to give the owners/readers of the site some info of what games folks who use the site are playing and/or buying for. It doesn't claim to be representative of all gamers everywhere. However, being a very popular site, it does still have credibility.

Nothing stopping anyone who is bothered from registering and voting if they want to, whatever their preferences. those that only play one system are as welcome as anyone else. Who knows, they may learn something of interest to their hobby...

Well, Warmachine/Hordes was made one item where as 40k/Fantasy was made two categories. Combined, GW outstrips WM/H.
