Hello Dakka,

I thought I would start this thread, to get some advice on my painting, so that I can improve.

This is my first space marine I have painted, I also have a Necron army, but it is ok, nothing special. And I would like to do much better with my Marines. Also I feel that this Guy needs a little bit more, especially on his chain sword, so would like some ideas on what I could do.

After taking the photos I have noticed, that I need to sort out his eyes, free hand the Squad iconography on his Shoulder, and touch up the purple on his knee pad. I also think that I could probably do a wash over his chest, but I only have Babadab black, flesh wash and chestnut ink ATM. So I think I should probably get some more. Any suggestions as to which one I should get I was thinking gryphon sepia?

I tend to do my painting on my Citadel workstation that I got for Christmas, sitting in the lounge with my wife and new Son. This way I get to paint more often rather than needing to hide away in another room. (Also I am not fussed with what my Wife watches on TV, so she gets control of the remote which makes her rather happy )

I think he looks pretty good, the chest plate could do with a wash on it to pick out the recesses.

And the chainsword, the handle and casing could perhaps be done in a different colour, and a bit of badab black around the teeth of the sword and a dry brush of a lighter silver.

Just my two pence worth, i am by no means an expert

Thank you niallkissick i will look into getting a new wash for the chest. And use some more babadab black on the chainswords teeth.

I will have a look about for ideas on the chainsword and see what i think i am up to
