I doubt it, theres rumours goin around that Jagex are already working on a Sci-fi MMORPG, not much is known of it however.

Imo im glad Runescape was made as every other MMORPG is a grind/quest to level where as Runescape is level/grind to quest which i have never seen done in an MMORPG before.

Not only that but Runescape was originally an University project and now look at it, its massive. It was probly created with very little lore to begin with since it didnt have any games to follow on from apart from Runescape Classic where as Wow has Warcraft 1-3 to follow all the lore and such from.

Imo Runescape is just better than Wow as it hasnt stuck to the "traditional" leveling through quests. I could go into vast detail why its better but im not goin to unless somebody asks, and if they pm me i will reply via pm.

EDIT: I fully believe that if Runescape was to adapt the combat system of Wow and the like, it would be the best MMORPG of its time.

I don't bash on it because of WoW.

I bash on it cause it ate a week of my time before I figured out it's just a big pile of gunk.

Runescape was my first mmo, come to think of it, it was most likely quite a few peoples first mmo.

As such it has a special place in my heart.

I don't know if they will make a 3rd one, but I suspect not. It being a browser based mmo was one of its strongest selling points, and I don't think it will ever evolve beyond that.

A week you played it for eh?? Well thats hardly enough time to get to any of the decent content, a bit like Warcraft i guess.

Now i would say im a Runescape fanboy, but i did give Wow a try. While the 10 day trial didnt do much for me i did however buy some proper membership to give it the benifit of the doubt, and yea it paid off. It was enjoyable until i hit 80 then it got boring.

Perhaps its not so much as to the game themselves but more how often they are updated, Runescape is updated with new content quite often where as with Wow its not that often.

And also the fact that if you want to make an alt character a crafter doesnt have any downsides coz with Wow you need to get to lvl 10 or w/e to become better in the profession.

A game that doesn't have good content at every level of play is gak in my eyes.

Well good content is available but if you go to these places you would surely get owned buy other players. Most people seem to swear by Castle Wars, plus theres also a load of other different minigames to play.

EDIT: but for f2p then you are limited to Fist of Guthix or Dungeoneering which is very minigame-like.

Oh and another reason, the community was just aweful, I don't get along well with raging 13 year olds apparently.

That said, I wasted 5 years on Ragnarok Online, which most people find gak too, which is quite understandable. I mostly stayed for the community, half of that time was just spent using the game as a big chat room in towns.

Runescape community is crap but it can be fixed by finding a good clan and switching public 'off' all the time.

I can understand why you wouldn't care about a game getting a sequel, but 'hoping it doesn't' is just childish and silly.

It's full of grinding and elitist pricks but still a good game in my opinion. I don't play it much these days, more of an off-and-on player, i'm sure i'll get back into it. The Wildy and Free trade returning should be interesting!

If you had read my post after this, then you would see that the decent content is available at all lvls but is ill-advised due to being owned by higher lvl players.

Thus being badly designed. Why would High lvl players go in low area's?

The quests were better than any other MMORPG I have played.

The rest of the game was iffy though.

There is, the quests in Runescape arnt mindless killing, some of the bosses are fun but sadly can only kill them once if they are specific to quests.

I rather enjoyed WAR's Orc / Gobbo quest where you had to stuff stunties into barrels and toss them off a cliff. Sure, a kill + collect quest, but good delivery.

Neither does Runescape high levels. It just happens to be that low levels can vs high levels in Pvp regardless.

i hope that in future this...sci-fi game is just as enjoyable as runescape

Are you trying to say that the low level dungeons and PvP in WoW iare crappy? The only bad parts of WoW is 1-15 and the stupid gear grind at level cap.

PvP isnt crappy, but i miss out on PvP coz i hate it in any MMORPG, not just Wow. As for the dungeons, no they arnt crappy, they actually made the low levels bearable. Since cata came out however the quests are better.
