do you know where i can get the at 43 army books as a free downloadable pdf ? i know they were on there site before they closed up . is there any where to get a hold of the pdfs now?

You can get all the AT-43 army books from the AT-43 Library from AT43-CONFRONTATION.CO.UK
It also has frostbite rules, fortuna and a lot of the Confrontation PDFs.

Good luck on getting them to open, because I haven't had any luck getting them open.

strange as all of them open fine for me.
Try right mouse click and select "Open" or "Open in New Tab"

Tried it on a number PCs and a few need the right click route but most work fine, sometimes it is slow I have noticed that.
